I personally use japanese for the epg and yes I can see the japanese characters (moji) by changing the font in the skin i use to a unicode font. I would be happy to produce both english and japanese versions but i only would update last minute changes in the japanese one. normally changes are minimal but the earthquake, tsunami, nucular meltdown has altered the scheduale dramaticlly. From the 1st of april i'll do both english and japanese versions. maybe you could put the english version within the sky uk download and keep the japanese in the osn download. What do you think?

Hi Willy, EPG changes have now settled back to almost normal after the recent problems in Japan, so I am now ready to start an english version of the epg for the UK download section.
The web addresses are busubi.com/jstv1en_epg.html and busubi.com/jstv2en_epg.html The original Japanese ones are ok to stay on OSN section. However for the Japanese ones, could I use a 3rd column for descriptions, you said you would have to do somthing extra to get that to work. Would it be much trouble? no need for english versions 3rd column as I can't be bothred to translate the discriptions to english.

Kind Regards

Hello JediBUZ, hello Forum,

I was also looking for a CrossEPG solution and found your postings in several forums asking for help. Glad that it looks like your perseverance payed off.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me or I am doing something wrong. Or do the problems with the epg data still exist?

Anyways, I am using CrossEPG 0.6.2 (svn 306) on my Dreambox 800 and chose "Rytec OSN/JSC Sport XMLTV", but when I downloaded the data I didn't get any (english) EPG information for JSTV 1. Looks like it's probably still mostly in japanese, so apart from entries such as "ONE PIECE", "JAPAN CUP 2011" which use latin characters (romaji), I don't see any information.
For JSTV 2 I see nothing, not even any times.

Any help would be appreciated.

btw. I found this program schedule for JSTV 1, based on the pdf files found on the JSTV HP:
http://www2.unitymed...Television-265/

Could the Rytec team use that? Maybe that would mean less work for JediBUZ.

I had untill a few das ago writing a Japanese epg which Rytec put in the OSN section and an English epg which they put into the UK section. At the moment there is Japanese in both. From tonight I'll put the english back into UK section so Tomorrow morning you can download UK and you will get JSTV1 and JSTV2 in english. I'm glad someone is actually requiring it.

That would be "Rytec UK XMLTV", right? There's also "Rytec UK BBCi XMLTV". Ok, I'll give it another try tomorrow, thanks. :)
And yeah, we're surely not the only one's looking for an JSTV EPG.

If you like I could teach you how to display the Japanese on your dreambox

Sure, though that would only help my gf, while it's my receiver and I prefer english. :D
I am using the latest iCVS GP3 image.

Yes this is correct. The epg data is there for Rytec to grab which is usually around about 04:00

It doesnt matter what image you use as it's a modification you need to make in your GUI

Step 1. Telnet in and init 4

Step 2. ftp in to /usr/share/fonts/
add a Japanese font (be carefull some font will cause a crash) I use togoshi-monago.ttf

Step 3. ftp in to /usr/share/enigma2/
now if you are using a default skin you need to edit skin.xml
If you are using a non default skin you need the skin.xml file in the folder of the skin you are using.
Once you have opened skin.xml scroll down to fonts paragraph

<fonts>
<!-- <font filename="md_khmurabi_10.ttf" name="Regular" scale="90" /> -->
<font filename="nmsbd.ttf" name="Regular" scale="90" />
<font filename="lcd.ttf" name="LCD" scale="100" />
<font filename="togoshi-monago.ttf" name="Replacement" scale="90" replacement="1" />
<font filename="tuxtxt.ttf" name="Console" scale="100" />
</fonts>

You need to replace the name of the font which = replacement with the name of the japanese font you placed in to the fonts folder

Step 4. Telnet init 3

That then should allow you to see Japanese texts.

Hm, doesn't look like the data was grabbed, since I still only see the japanese EPG for JSTV 1. Or does it work for you?

Thanks, I'll see if I can follow these instructions and get it to work. Meanwhile I noticed that the japanese characters are displayed correctly on the dreaMote App that I am using on my iPhone.

While I didn't get any english EPG yesterday morning, I ran CrossEPG again in the evening and there it was: English EPG for both channels. Thanks goes once again to JediBUZ and the Rytec team. /images/smiley/more_word_positive/8.gif

I dont know why you got Japanese as nothing had changed my end. The only thing i can think of is that you downloaded the OSN data as that carries Japanese epg data.

If you download UK and OSN just make sure you do OSN first and UK second so the English over writes the Japanese.
