Hi,

I would like to know if you have already any plans to support the outcoming Vu+ Uno and maybe the Ultimo?
Are you in contact with vuplus? Other developers already have their beta versions of the settopbox.

Can you give a link to already existing images for the UNO?

There are no public images yet. I only wanted to say that other image developers already got the new hardware from vuplus... :)

Hi,
are you sure that it is a real image and not only some plugins in an original image and then a backup?

btw. they use old driver.

We are aware of the new VU's, but as long as we don't have a few, we can't see if they are up-to-spec (i.e. not crap like the Solo) and if we are willing to support them.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Come on, let's keep it serious here: the Solo is not crap.
The worst you can say that it is overpriced.

Well, to call the solo crap may be a little on the hard side.
But it's by far the least capable and slowest receiver using enigma2 at this moment.
And so far support is poor and you may guess why.

So somebody like me, who has a Duo but doesn't use the dual tuner (or really know how or when to), probably made a wise choice over a solo?

Only if you:
- never make any recording. Because as soon as you do, any single tuner-box shows it's limitations;
- you don't mind not running PLi (as PLi does not support the Solo);
- paying only a little bit more for the DUO is indeed felt as an advantage.

With the Duo, is the idea that you set both tuners to be the same, then you can record channel A and watch channel B as long as they are both on the same satellite position?
I have a VU+ Duo. Currently using latest nfi Beta PLi images.

If "the same" is independent (= two coax-cables to the box) tuner A can watch any satellite independent from the satellite tuner B is watching.

blackhole already released new image for UNO with dual USB tuner support. Now you can have two different usb tuners or one combo usb tuner. Niceee

I think this is why the two tuners are not much use to me, except for watching and recording from the same satellite position.
ie I have 4 LNBs via a single external diseqc switch.
Presumably a motorised dish setup would also be restrictive, because the dish can only point at one satellite at a time.

I assume anybody fully using the dual tuners in a multisat environment must have various fixed dishes and individual feeds from each LNB to the Duo.
I have a VU+ Duo. Currently using latest nfi Beta PLi images.

I don't agree with that: on a one-satellite setup the dual-tuner has the same advantages.

A tuner can only be tuned to one frequency (= 1 transponder), exactly the same as in the old days using a radio. So if a recording is going on, the tuner in use can additionally only be used for channels from the same transponder. A second tuner allows you to watch/record channels from another transponder, irrespective of the fact if this transponder is on the same satellite.

If you want to be sure if at present/with your present watch-and-record habits you would be "handicapped" by a single tuner, just disable the second tuner and use the box as usual.

Thanks again VU+NL,

I think you might be slightly misunderstanding my setup; I have a single coax from an external diseqc switch, so I can only use one LNB output at any time. Indeed yes, I could watch or record whatever I wanted from the active LNB at the same time, but not from any of the other 3 LNBs.

I've obviously taken this thread off topic, so sorry about that. I think I have been correctly understanding the dual tuners after all; it's just that I'm focusing on not being able to watch/record from 2 satellites / LNB outputs at the same time in my setup.

In your setup it's even worse: the second tuner can not only only use the same LNB as the first, but it can only "see" transponders in the same "quadrant" (same polarity (V/H) and frequency-band (High/Low). Still better than a single tuner DVR canoffer you!
Anyway: time for a second coax!

Indeed a hijacked thread......

Oh yes, I forgot those further restrictions.
Until such a time I change my switching / routing, the second tuner is indeed of little use to me.
:)
