I've found the following for the old cdk:
http://www.digital-k...mbox-image-488/
Using CentOS 5something the above did not work.

Like you I'd like to setup the development environment as well. if I find anything I will post.

fyi: The images they have posted for download and install work fine as is on the dm500s.

I think the OpenPLi CDK build tutorial is gone, perhaps for good... but the basic idea...

Make sure svn & the development libraries are installed & not you're using DASH...

mkdir /path/for/CDKbuild
cd /path/for/CDKbuild
svn co https://openpli.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/openpli/trunk/cdk .
Read the README... from the same directory, following the example above, something like:

./make_cdk_image /path/for/CDKbuild /path/for/CDKbuild/SaveImageHere dm500

... or whatever CDK box you're trying to build: dm7000 dm7000-chinese dm500 dm500-chinese dm500-maxvar dm500-chinese-maxvar dm56x0 dm56x0-chinese.

I haven't build a CDK image in years, but that should be enough to get you going...

Good luck,

I think the OpenPLi CDK build tutorial is gone, perhaps for good...

We still have backups of the old websites. If you can tell me what needs to be restored, I can see if I can find it...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Why not all...? All development information?
in a read only mode maybe.

Feel free to delete this after reading so as not to clutter this thread more...

I haven't seen it in ages, but IIRC, either on or linked directly off of the old openpli.pli-images.org front page was a short (1/2 dozen paragraphs or so) "tutorial" on building CDK images (think there was a link for building oe/e2 images too), containing the svn command, how to build, make dreamboximage_root make rebuild-flash, etc... It may have linked into the old wiki, but I think it was "standalone". All that said, it's been a long time... ;)

(try: 2) => ../openpli/sources/binutils-2.21.tar.bz2'
Connecting to ftp.ayamura.org|205.178.189.131|:21... failed: Connection timed out.
Retrying.

It seems this website is now under construction and not available. The script then goes on to openembedded mirrors and does not find it there either.

At http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/binutils/ they suggest binutils-2.21.1a.tar.bz2
as binutils-2.21.tar.bz2 is not available there.
Any suggestions on the best way around the problem?

And now I have reached the end of the line - I can't find the ipkg-utils as handhelds.org is still down and I can't find anywhere else to download the package.
If anybody has the package, could they please upload it here.
This is the broken download link:

@blzr:
I have put the tarball in openembedded and renamed ipkg-utils.tar.gz but it still tries to download from handheld.org. Does it need an md5 file as well. And where do these extraxt to?
Help appreciated.

put it in the sources directory, don't rename it,
and yes, you need md5 file too:
md5sum ipkg-tools...etc.tar.gz > ipkg-tools...etc.tar.gz.md5

Would it be possible to put the missing tarballs in the openpli tree(and fix the .bb files) as it looks like the websites where they used to be have disappeared forever.
I am just trying to get a build environment where I can build some c programs for the dreambox (mipsel).
The bb files I have uploaded above retrieve from other sources, but they might disappear as well as most of the missing sources are quite old(out-of-date) tarballs and have been removed.
