This plugin already tries to distinct between a manual an a timer wakeup and does a good job

yes, that's the easy part, but it cannot tell the difference between a reboot after a power cut, and a manual wakup.
I would not want my tv to be switched on after a power failure.

But that's easy as that difference can be made by reading /proc/stb/fp/was_timer_wakeup.

Unfortunately, this seems to be not working. /proc/stb/fp/was_timer_wakeup is empty at the time where a plugin is running the first time.

After the box has come out of deep-standby it takes 2 key presses on the power button to wakeup the television. Not a perfect solution, but it will do in practice, I hope.

In Practice, you can live completely without HDMI-CEC, since you just need a maximum of 2 key presses to do the job. But why doing it manually when you can avoid it?
Like some people, my box ist always in deep standby when not in use.

Kind regards

Klaus

I see the point. On the other hand a power-loss is very rare and I'm booting the box always out auf deep-standby. In addition, starting the TV takes always a few seconds, because Panasonic thought it might be a godd idea to kep the power-button pressed for seconds :-(.

Anyway:

I understand, if do not like the idea. I'm more then happy to do it myself by writing my own plugin and share the result in case someone likes the idea. I just need some advice how to switch on my TV

Kind regards

Klaus

Good news after today update , the hdmi-cec all working perfict .
On Sony and sharp Tv's .
After todays' PLi update, if I set WakeUp Signal from TV -> OSD name request, the STB correctly wakes up from Standby if I power on using the TV remote.
Thank you .

yes, we need to fix that.
e2 should keep that status somewhere after reading+clearing /proc/stb/fp/was_timer_wakeup.

And if you use the "boot to standby" plugin?

This is probably the situation one wants when the box is in deep-standby.
power outage -> boot to deep-standby
timer wakeup -> boot to standby
remote control wakeup -> wake up, tv on, etc..

Why is the box waking up after power outage when it was in deep-standby? When box is in standby best thing is to boot to standby again. But when the box is in deep-standby, best thing is it stays in deep-standby after a power outage. When the box stays in deep-standby after power outage, all 'problems' could be solved.

This Plugin "stupidly" sends the Box into Standby after Boot. This is not helpfull, if you want to watch TV. /images/smiley/wink.gif

Maybe the wakeup-timer is cleared when power outage occurs - hence the box needs to boot up to set the timer again.

Exactly! /images/smiley/smile.gif

This would be the behaviour in "a perfect world!"

Bu currently, it seems, that the box does a boot and since Enigma does not know, if this was due to a power outage or a Remote Control Wakeup, Eniogma decides to go to "switched on"

Kind regards

power outage -> boot to deep-standby

yes, but what if the 'power outage' lasted a few weeks, while the box was in its original package, in the shop waiting for a buyer ;)

I think it make sense that it always boots, when you plug the power (or flip the switch on the back).
You cannot reliably keep the desired state while the power is disconnected.

Anyway, this is not something we can control, we have to deal with hardware which boots when the power has been temporarily lost.

so you claim a new tv should also turn fully on when plugged into a wall socket? ;) that doesn't make sense...

however I agree it cannot be changed... they had probably a reason to design it in this way...

Controlling the volume of your receiver or television should work.
My receiver (denon avr1910) accepts the volume keys, my television (some cheap sony bravia) doesn't.
Volume control should be automatic. Turn the receiver on and volume keys go the receiver. Turn the receiver off and the volume keys go to the television. If one of those devices doesn't accept the volume keys, the regular volume control on the box will be used.

In addition the receiver can be put to standby and wake from standby.

Let me know if it works as expected.

TV: Panasonic LCD TX32D85LZF
STB: ET9K
AV: Yamaha TX-V467 On HDMI1

Connection Is ET9K <= HDMI => Yamaha <= HDMI => Panasonic TV

I tested the last changes.

Volume-Control of TV does not work, even if HDMI-CEC is switched off in the AV-Receiver. HDMI-CEC switched on, the volume-control controlls the Yamaha AV-receiver. :-)

The parameter "Forward volume Keys" seems to be at work, even if the HDMI-CED in the menue is set to off

Nice work!

Kind regards

Klaus

Since this is my first post in this forum i first would like to say hello to all.

Until now HDMI-CEC worked perfect for me (TV switched on/off when STB was switched on/off).
But since the recent image-updates (last update today) HDMI-CEC is not working at all.

TV: Philips 46PFL5605H/12
STB: ET9000

- TV goes on if you turn on your TV => NO
(moreover if TV is off but STB is on, switching on TV leads to greenscreen, see crashlog below)
- TV switches to the correct input channel => NO
- With your TV remote you can controll the STB => NO
- TV goes off when you turn off your STB =>NO
- STB goes on when you turn on the TV, and the correct HDMI input will be selected => NO
- With your TV remote you can controll your STB => NO
- STB goes off when you turn off your TV => NO

STB does not go to standby when "POWER/STDBY"-Button is pushed. Instead STB shuts down and reboots again while TV remains on (very strange).
When STB is in standby it is not possible to wake up STB with remote control.

Please find telnet-log below.
I hope you guys will find and fix the problem.

Best regards

It seems you are not running an 'original' OpenPLi 2.1 image. But an image build by someone else. We don't support other images.
As the url in the crashlog suggests, you should probably report the issue at http://www.clarke-support.com

Good luck!

OK thanks, I understand.

I flashed latest OpenPLi 2.1 beta (20110823) from this website. The situation is somehow better now but most of the new features are not working for me.
Sending STB to standby and waking up via RC is ok now. No greenscreens. Actual situation is:

TV: Philips 46PFL5605H/12
STB: ET9000

- TV goes on if you turn on your STB => NO (I hope this will be fixed, because this feature was ok for me before the HDMI-CEC update)
- TV switches to the correct input channel => NO
- With your TV remote you can controll the STB => NO
- TV goes off when you turn off your STB =>YES
- STB goes on when you turn on the TV, and the correct HDMI input will be selected => NO
- With your TV remote you can controll your STB => NO
- STB goes off when you turn off your TV => NO

Is there any possibility for me to restore the 'old' HDMI-CEC behaviour?

what do your settings look like? Defaults? Or did you disable some stuff?
And please post some log, showing which commands are sent.

ET9000 <-HDMI -> Philips 40PFL9705 <-CoaxSPDIF-> AV Receiver
- TV goes on of you turn on your TV
YES
- TV switches to the correct input channel
Unavailable I use TV only from HDMI inputs
- With your TV remote you can controll the STB
YES

- TV goes off when you turn off your STB
YES
- STB goes on when you turn on the TV, and the correct HDMI input will be selected
YES
- With your TV remote you can controll your STB
YES

- STB goes off when you turn off your TV
YES

Volume keys didn't sent any events to HDMI, but I think it's TV problem

It works almost great, but please add same way for custom bindings TV remote keys without recompiling enigma2.
