When my VU+ crashes or is hard resetted and it starts up again in 99% of all restarts the complete EPG data is empty.
How can i prevent this, the EPG data would be present on the HD but for unknown reasons the EPG software does not use this data?
After a rescan of the sources all works normal again, so the EPG software itself works fine.
As mentioned this happens when the box crashes or the power is shut off (99% due to crash).
Uhmmm yes, the box sometimes (once in the 2/3weeks) crashes or must be restarted due to very slow response, i complained about this already elsewhere in forum about instable builds, most likely caused by addons which causes conflict, memory leaks or resources problems what causes the box to slow down that much that a cold or hard reset only fixes the problem, when that happens the epg data is empty.
The VU+ has an internal HD and a network drive mounted for storage.

This is not related to the XMLTV importer at all.
And if I were you, i'd start searching for whatever is causing the instability. The box should just run for months without booting.

But: I am restarting each day my VU+. This way the stability of the box is greatly improved. I can confirm the observation:
memory leaks or resources problems what causes the box to slow down that much that a cold or hard reset only fixes the problem
This automatic restart is performed by setting two repeating zap timers:
Uit - N/A (JOEfm)
Mo-Su 2011-08-28 05:58 zap
1 Min 2011-08-28 05:59 Deepstandby/Shutdown
Aan - N/A (JOEfm)
Mo-Su 2011-08-28 06:10
1 Min 2011-08-28 06:11 Standby
I know this is only treating the symptoms, not the root problem.

No it is not!!!!
Something is slowly causing instability, being a plug-in or something different.

never noticed it here
it did really run for months on the bedroom
OK, if you only use it for watching TV, and the occasional recording, there are not much problems. The problems starts when using the box intensively, including installing and deinstalling plug-ins, settinglists, watching frequetly recordings and using the mediaplayer intensively etc.
When doing these, i found out it is a good idea after the changes are made to switch off the box for 10 minutes and restarting. And just in case I forget to do it, the automatic restart each morning takes carte of this.
