Maybe you need a driver?
Help, who knows.

The device is recognised as USB device and nothing more.

So yes, you need "something" to deal with this device. There is some ups management support for linux, look for "nut", but the chances it will run on your stb are very slim.

Without the support hiddev in the Linux kernel does not work.
You can add it to the PLI 2.1?

yes we can, but are you sure you need HIDDEV?
Not HIDRAW for instance?

And, for both of these you will need a userspace 'driver' to control the device.

It seems only HIDDEV.

And what will need a driver?

or in your case, acupsd will probably control the hiddev directly.

I'll wait.
While I will write a plugin for startup and testing status :) .

Put together a package to monitor the firm UPS APC.
Will work only on the PLi from versions of 13.10.2010, in the Linux kernel and added support for HIDRAW HIDDEV.
Thank pieterg
All the details of the settings here:
http://www.apcupsd.com/manual/
There's no big deal.
From a simple plug-in added on / off autostart, status, etc.
The only thing that apcupsd version in January 2010.
Although there are already new:

Who will gather for mipsel be grateful.

Is this extension still compatible with the latest Open-PLi and Dreambox 8000HD?

I am getting Illegal instruction on launching apcaccess and the daemon dies silently when started. The configuration is pcnet for AP9606, UPS cable ETHER.

The only event in /var/log/messages is:

apcupsd 3.14.14 (31 May 2016) debian startup succeeded, which is also replicated in /var/log/apcupsd.events

The daemon records pid yet instantly disappears from the memory

Something is broken in enigma2-plugin-extensions-apcupsd-tools_1.3_all.ipk when doing vanilla installation on Vu+Duo4k i.e. with no previous apcupsd package installed.

This release finishes with an error message "Value OS" is not defined and the plugin does not show up on the menu.

The workaround is to remove version 1.3 and install 1.2, which completes fine. Then remove 1.2 and install back 1.3. This time the installation goes through OK.

The trick with upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3 worked only until next reboot. The error is back again and the plugin disappeared from the menu. The core functionality is unaffected I am getting output with apcaccess in terminal.
