Hi Gennar1,

Upgraded the box this morning, powered off, booted up pressing the switch on the back (I waited a few mins. between the shutdown and the power on)... still no tuners detected. Firmware files are the correct ones, I checked the checksums and they match with yours. I'm suspecting that I'm missing some package / utility. Do we need usbtunerhelper for this key? I suspect the answer will most likely be no, as this is an all-in-one chip, but I feel safer to ask.

Here are the kernel messages again. Do they differ from yours, do I miss some messages?

Of course you need usbtunerhelper, it's the piece of software that discovers new adapters under /dev/dvb/ and connects them to the vtuner. Without it no USB tuner can work.

I guess we found the problem...

Yup :) Now the tuner gets recognized - I've scanned and tuned a few channels, both SD and HD work! Thanks a lot for the help and keep up the good work :)

Suggestion: when you install the dvb-as102 meta package, it doesn't download also usbtunerhelper. I think it would make sense to include it in the list of packages in the meta.

usbtunerhelper is in the image by default.
If you didn't have it, you must have manually removed it.

Hi,

That tuner (ADB100T stick for nBOX) is very popular here in Poland.
Is it possible to update drivers to support that USB DVB-T tuner? I trying am using it but unfortunately as102 plugin cannot be installed due to dependencies on missing kernel drivers.
I am using VU+ UNO with OpenPLI 3.0 (build 29102012).

I already tried Black Hole 1.7.8 and that tuner works very well without adding any plugins - no problems with detection, no freezes, glitches or excessive system load
Just tried BH and get back to OpenPLI, because is much better for me.

regards,

VU+ uses the 3.1 kernel and there is no working driver for the as102 chipset on that kernel. Black Hole uses the latest media_build drivers so they have up-to-date DVB drivers, but on OpenPli we stick with the drivers available on the current kernel (eventually with some patch) so there is no as102 driver available.

Theoretically, you could take the driver patches posted on this thread, backport them to the VU+ 3.1 kernel and recompile your own kernel and modules.
But this is not a trivial task, as it requires some knowledge about kernel hacking.
Your best option is to wait until the next kernel upgrade from VU+: the 3.4 kernel (as well as every newer one) contains the new as102 driver along with the patch needed to run it on recent Broadcom chipsets.

Do you have an indication that this one will be released for VU+??

They are working on 3.3.6 kernel as seen on their git.

For the Solo2 & DUO2. That's related to the SDK Broadcom provides for those chipsets: they only recently provided this for 3.3.6 (2.6 until recently).

No, I was just suggesting that newer kernels have a working as102 driver.
I don't have any VU+ box, and I have no idea about their future plans.
