Dear All,

Today I replaced my 20 years old CRT with a brand niew plasma TV.
The TV clains to be Dolby digital+ compatible, but when I connect the VU+Duo on a HD channel with the HDMI to the TV, then I have no sound on the TV.

Of course I have set downmix to NO (If I set it to yes I get PCM sound on TV)!.

When I switch on my amplifier connected to the VU+DUo with an optical cable, I get the dolby on the amplifier.

As I woud like to use the Dolby decoding on the TV, where is the problem? PLI? The TV?

Some views will be welcome as I do not know which end is wrong!!!!

Regards,

I run hdmi through my receiver and never had trouble with sound on any box. So I guess it's your tv which doesn't recognize it. Maybe it only supports dd+ on it's internal tuners?

Thanks, I will now investigate on the TV side.

If your TV is a Panasonic, then it supports DD only on internal tuners, as Sjaaky suggested.
I have the same problem so I'm always switching the downmix ON and OFF. It's really annoying. By the way, I have an old A/V receiver without HDMI, and it's connected to my ET9000 through an optical cable
Is it possible to get the DD signal from the optical out and the downmixed MPEG signal from HDMI at the same time? This would resolve the problem.
By the way, my skybox default behaviour is exactly this, and it works very well out of the box. With an Enigma2 box it's not possible, as far as I know.

That would indeed be very handy, I have the same setup here, and the downmix toggle is so annoying that I hardy switch my receiver on anymore...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Yes it is a panasonic!
So no luck, I will have to play with the downmix when I switch on the ampliier.

Thanks a lot.....

Are all TV manufacturers the same? (I mean not enabling DD from HDMI)

Korean manufacturers (Samsung, LG) are much more open from this point of view. With some model, you can even feed the TV with an AC3 signal on HDMI inputs and then take it from the optical out of the TV (so that the TV can be used as an AC3 router to feed the receiver with a single optical cable).
