hello i am using here EMC 2.02 on my et9x00. The problem with the freezed pictures over 8x is gone.
fast rewinding now working fine for me . There are ~2min jumps in movie when fast rewinding with 128x.
But when fast forwarding there is a small difference between 2x or 128x fast forwarding. When 128x fast forwarding
i have only ~ 5 second jumps.

Hi,

@hemertje

can they provide us "enigma" logs?
via console

I have now installed a PLI 2.1 from 23.11.2011 and i have here this problem now too.
I will post in the next days a enigma log and also i will make a movie of this problem with my video camera so that
i can make an avi from this problem which i then post here.

@littlesat

As far I can see nothing is changed in that code?????

Yes i think you are right, but i think also the spooling problem was not fixed complete or perfect.
At this time i know that five users have this problem nor ever.
probably many users have this problem but they have not noticed this because they don't use the spooling function.
and moreover this problem comes not by records from all channels -> i have at this moment two records from rtl transponder
from date 23.11.2011 they have this problem.

Good Evening!

COuld someone from OpenPLi please have a look at this issue? It does really get anoying when it happens and on many CT/ET9x00 it happens all the time. I'm also reading and writing at Clarke-Tech Forums and many users complain about this problem. We have collected many information on how and when it happens, so it should probably be possible to figure out what the reason for this behavior is.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

daPain

Hello hermetje,

sorry if my posting sounded kind of harsh, it was not intended to do so (your reply sounds a little like you got it the wrong way).

The manufacturer - in this case Clarke Tech/Xtrend - seems basically to count on OpenPLi as the base for their own images, and personally I desided to go for a "pure" OpenPLi installation as I don't like the images provided by CT. I was one of the persons that went to ask Clarke Tech first (in Clarke Tech Support Forums), before "we" came here (Biki3 is one of the "regulars" and "Beta-Testers" on Clarke Tech Forums, I'm just a "customer"). Non the less both, the CT V3 image and the original OpenPLi show the same issue on CT 9x00 hardware.

If this looks more like a hardware/driver issue to you, no problem. Then it is up to CT/XTrend to fix this.

Best regards

You mean the issue this topic is about? (winding in ts recordings being broken at some stage)
That has been solved I believe.

(the comments about avi or other media formats in this thread are not related, in fact gstreamer fastforward/rewind is not officially supported, for some formats it works quite ok, for others it doesn't work at all, that's just the way gstreamer handles the different media files)

Hello pieterg,

thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if the issue is resolved because a couple of users (that use recording/spooling more often then other) are still reporting problems with spooling completely "hanging" when 16x spooling speed is reached (at any point of a certain recording). Also I'm able to reproduce an error that happens with _every_ recorded tv stream when I start spooling with an inital speed of 12x or higher. This can be seen on this video:

I've also attached a complete logfile for this video with this posting.

What happens can be described as follows:

Spooling starts at 12x/16x -> error, picture hangs/stuttering/slideshow
Increase spooling speed (when started at 12x) up to 48x(sometimes up to x64) -> error, picture hangs/stuttering/slideshow
Increase spooling speed up to (96x/128x) -> picture OK!!
Decrease spooling speed (from above 64x) -> error, picture hangs/stuttering/slideshow
Decrease spooling speed below 12x -> picture OK
Increase spooling speed again-> picture OK!

The video on posting #30 (posted by Biki3) as well as the logfile was done by me also on last weekend. I'm running OpenPLi 2.1 with Kernel 3.1.0 last updated yesterday an I'm still having the described issues with recorded tv streams. Also other owners of CT/XT 9x00 with up to date Installations are still reporting that issue.

If more information is needed, just let me know.

Hi pieterg,

(the comments about avi or other media formats in this thread are not related

the movies (avis) which we here attached are movies that we maked with handys or video camera
as we filmed from the tv when we spool a record (.ts stream) with spooling problem higher than 16x
so that PLI Team can see as the problem looks.

Trigger seems to be "entering" at high speed.

If I set it to start at 8x or below, it runs fine, also at higher speeds after that.

But if I change the default to 16x (I wonder how you got it to start at 12x?) then it doesn't wind smoothly at all, until i go back to 8x and then back to 16x. Looks like the decoder isn't set to some "trick" mode properly if it doesn't "normal" wind first.

If you set the default to 8x, will it wind okay then?

Hello MiLo,

yes, this is how it works. If I set "inital wind speed" to someting below 12x, everything is fine. 12x can be archived by going to Menu->Settings->System->Recording and change the values for the available wind speeds, you can add additional speeds. I just did this to see from what point/speed it happens. When I look at the console log while "spooling", I can see that the behavior of this function changes exactly from >=12x . There are "Skipmode"-messages at 12x and above that do not occur on lower speeds. At this point the "other" issue kicks in again: Recordings that show the issue with "hanging" at 12x/16x seem to have a "broken" .ap-file with them (found by Kent at Clarke Tech Forums this evening). If you delete the .ap-file or use "reconstructapcs" on the recording, everything is fine expect the "enter spooling at a speed >=12x"-issue.

Perhaps the two problems have kind of a similar reason?

Regards

PainHealer

forwarding above 8x, e2 does no longer set the speed with the VIDEO_FAST_FORWARD ioctl, but instead it controls the speed by dropping frames from the ts.
When rewinding (at any speed), e2 does the same as in >8x fastforward mode.
Only 2..8x are 'real' fastforward speeds.

So my guess is that the hardware does not know whether it should play frames in forward or reverse order, if you jump to >8x at once, without first selecting a speed between 2..8x.
