for me they are played all, one after another in a given folder
//just checked and it works this way only if you have set 'Play audio in background' to 'yes'... I don't know if it's intentional /?/

only one MP3 will be played.

no, audio files are played one after another, in sequence. Till you hit a video file.

Well, I never managed that: playback always stops after one file.
Will see if that "Play audio in background" option changes anything

Thanks all for the tips on playing media on PLi image. But I must udmit it took me some time to realize there are different players in the image.
I think you guys (PLi team) yourself confuse people a bit since you probably do not have a proper "brand" name for your own player.
You call it PVR, play recordings; Media payer, movie player, etc. What's the proper name.
I suggest to start your imporvements think about the name. It's definately not a movie player since it can play audio. How about PLi Player or PLi Media Player.

I'd like to proceed with my expirience and questions on Pli Player but looks like this is not at all a related thread since it's related to EMC, right ? :)
Previosly I've opened more relevant thread "Best way to play media files on OpenPLi 2.1" with similar questions on PLi Player. I suggest to continue there:

Well, won't be exhaustive on this, but as to
- Interface usability: very personal, but I like the way PLi's mediaplayer does thing (I may be biassed as to being used to it). One place does it all.
- Played formats: can't be any difference there: video decoding is done in hardware. EMC is just a GUI.
- Bugs: if there are any in PLi, just report them here. What about bugs in EMC?

EMC has an option where you tag files with PVR button, they are shown numbered (01, 02, 03 etc) and when you press PLAY then all media files will play back. Something like a custom playlist.

It's nice feature, I can create a simple list of 4-5 episodes of Dora the Explorer so my kids can watch it :)

I can't find any other option missing from OpenPLI

OK, that sounds fine indeed.
So now it turns out that EMC indeed has an option/options that are not included in PLi.
What version of EMC do you use? And is it fully compatible with PLi? No issues/bugs?

Can you just add maybe support for M3U and PLS playlist Specification.
Means, that if I have a playlist created with WinAmp for example and I have .m3u file in the folder. That PLi player can just play this list?
As the 1st step that should be enough.

The more valuable feature would be mp3 tags.
It works in the standard E2 Media Player. You could implement similar thing displaying tags in the below Info frame (it's not used anyway during mp3 playback).
Album cover would be a nice addon.

If I do that, the movieplayer will become incompatible will all existing skins. That's what's been keeping me from adding it.

I see, anyway please think about the solution for mp3 tags.
Without it, mp3 playback would be poor and people always look for an alternative media player.
The rest looks really good.
Thanks

Milo,

And when just new lables/widgets are added... so we only have to add items to a skin...? Skins that are not compatible do not show them?

Hi

I know it's a year old thread, but decided to add something to conversation.

I just recently changed from NN2 to OpenPli in my DM8000. Only drawback is giving up EMC, because it messes EPG languages. At least in Canal Digital channels it shows some EPG:s in Swedish or Norwegian instead of Finnish/English. It's propably EMC which should be fixed instead of OpenPli.

I'm missing only couple features from EMC. One is already mentioned. Selection of multiple files with PVR button. It's a handy feature, when you are deleting or movin multiple files (I just recently moved lot of movies from harddisk to NAS). Other missing feature is possibility of play content of entire directory in random order. I have one directory which has music videos. I would like to play them all in random order, but I haven't found out how it could be done in OpenPli.

If you could consider these, it would make OpenPli media player perfect.

Is it possible to move the infobar to the top of the screen or make it disappear during the pause function? I don't want subtitles to be covered by the infobar when I play the pause key.
