I am missing EPG data for these two channels, please add it:
SVT 1 HD, 1_0_19_57E_E_46_E080000_0_0_0
SVT 2HD, 1_0_19_581_E_46_E080000_0_0_0

This is really strange, because the EPG data went missing after update to ViX 2.3, coming from Blackhole 1.6.5 where i had everything working. Just updated to wix and transferred settings to my Vu+ Duo with DreamBoxEdit. And now the EPG data is missing, with the same settings that worked on Blackhole. I don't know what the difference is.

I have tried all EPG data sources in ViX 2.3, but it is the same. Currently on CrossEPG-XEPGDB, which is the fastest. I think Blackhole EPG was OPENTV (not sure about this), but also Rytec EPG. Maybe this is the explanation, but i thought that data was just repacked Rytec data.

I also believe I had longer EPG in Blackhole. Now i just get 5 days. Is there any way to get longer EPG data? I would like 14 days if possible.

Investigating these missing channels now.

The normal epg length for us (blackhole, Crossepg and XMLTV importer) is 5 days. All these methods use the same Rytec sources. 14 days would stretch the possiblities of the system.

I have looked into the data file and corrected some epg references.
I have uploaded the new channels file to the servers so I would suggest you to restart enigma and do a manual import.

Indeed, all kind of EPG plugins are using our epg data so if it is wrong in one plugin it is also wrong in the other plugins. Except if they use another kind of epg data.

I hop this will make some sense for you.

Thanks Rytec and Willy the doglover, it's working now on those two channels.

What is it in the Duo that doesn't allow more than 5 - 7 days of EPG data? I have my EPG database file on an USB stick with nearly 8 GB free space on it. I would thing that is sufficient for another week of data. Or am i missing something here?

EPG is stored internally in memory. What you see on your HDD of USB stick is the epg.dat file which is created only when you shutdown your box. the file is then used to reload the epg upon start-up.

Also for Crossepg the crossepg data sore is an intermediate storage. But the epg is still loaded in memory.

But this is not the complete picture. We provide epg for almost all countries in Europe. I now have two PC's running each nigth for 6 hours each to download the epg for 5-7 days. 14 days would at least double this time.

Also all epg databases would double (at least in size). Also the data pushed around the internet would at least double. For the moment we exceed the 300 GB / month. And this already creates problems with the service providers.

Although not impossible, it is very problematic to create 14 days epg. Provided it is available on the different websites used.

So, because the whole EPG is actually stored in RAM, the amount of free RAM in the box is a hardware limitation. Another limitation is how the data is distributed to users and the network traffic that generates.

It seems you have reached the capabilities of this primitive EPG implementation and are banging your heads against the wall in two ways . Sooner or later that will no longer work. Time for a change?

I think that what is needed is a smarter EPG system that stores an SQL EPG database on disk (USB stick) and loads just the data that is actually displayed, and maybe preloads some data to RAM for speed. A lot of work to implement, but once it is done you would have a much better system that isn't limited by the amount of free RAM.

To reduce network traffic you would have to implement a smarter system for distributing EPG data that only transfers data for the channels that are actually in the bouquets of the box. To implement this is obviously another big job, but a job that should give you a system that can grow and that will work for many years to come.

Good luck! I am looking forward to it :)
