If I load Skins from Software management, Manage extensions, Skins... they just seem to disappear. I see no option anywhere to use those Skins and they don't appear in the Skin selection list.

If instead I go to Plugins, then hit the Green button to get the list of downloadable plugins, then load Skins, they do show up in the Skin selection list.

So I guess my question is, what is the difference between the 2 approaches to loading alternative skins (and other extensions/plugins) and is the first method terminally broken or have just I missed tbo there?
