Dear rytec,

Could you please add EPG for these TVBS Chinese channels on 9E?

Lamedb data

#SERVICE 1:0:1:5:1:52D:5A0000:0:0:0:

There is no XMLTV file readily available. There is however an online TVBS TV listing for all channels.

TVBS - Europe

TVBN

TVB Junior

TVB Premium Drama

TVB Lifestyle
Subsequent days are available via query string:

TVBS Europe today:
http://www.chinese-c.../en/plist_1.php

TVBS Europe tomorrow:
http://www.chinese-c...t_1.php?m_day=1

TVBS Europe the day after tomorrow
http://www.chinese-c...t_1.php?m_day=2

Would it be possible for you to scrape EPG data from this website into XMLTV-format?

Thanks for considering and thanks for a great job with Rytec EPG.

Grabbing was not a problem. Except, I have no idea how the chinese characters will survive all the manipulation.

In order to minimize the risk I have added this epg to the only utf-8 package we have. This is the OSN package (although not much OSN channels are anymore present). So you have to import the OSN Package.

Rytec will have to add the channel references to the channels file. Until they are added you will not see the result.
The webpage you gave does not contain detailed descriptions, so no details have been included.

Great! You guys are blazing fast!

I seem to remember several OSN sources. Which one is the correct one? Maybe you could add "TVBS" to the title for future reference?

Thanks again for doing this. I'm very happy :-)

Thanks for the info!

Does the channels file get updated regularly? I don't know how to check updates.

Do you know if the plugin updates the channels list by itself? I have scheduled updates enabled.

Will Rytec consider adding "TVBS" to the title so that other viewers can discover this wonderful service?

PS: Sorry for the many questions :-)

The channels file is now updated.
If you want to try it, today and you have already done an epg import today, restart your box (to force a reload of the channels file).
Select the OSN package and perform a manual import.

The TVBS title will be added in the sources file in the future. But for now select the OSN package.

I tried it and EPG works wonderfully for latin letters, but Chinese characters don't get displayed. They are however present in the EPG data. iDreamX reads Chinese EPG data correctly.

How can I make my DM7025+ display UTF-8 Chinese characters? Is this a skin issue? Is this Enigma2 not set up for UTF-8?

Thanks for helping out!

It is a skin issue, or rather an issue with the font used in the skin.
Not all fonts in the images are utf-8 enabled.

We had the same with - i think was japanese. I'll have look around how that guy solved it.
It is here somewhere on the forum - you can also search for it.

It was japanese:

I personally use japanese for the epg and yes I can see the japanese characters (moji) by changing the font in the skin i use to a unicode font.

But He did not tell me what font he used. But the fonts are Truetype, so you could use one from your windows PC, from which you know it contains the correct characters.
You have to enable this font in your skin. (I can help you with that)

Thanks for the hint. I found a nice description by JediBUZ on how to enable UTF-8 fonts in an Enigma2 skin. He used togoshi-monago.ttf but that's Japanese only. I'll try his method out and post my findings with a Chinese TTF.

So I followed JediBUZ's tutorial and I used "Arial Unicode.ttf" to display Chinese characters. It works wonderfully!

Thanks to doglover and JediBUZ for helping me out!

"Arial Unicode.ttf"

It is fine that you use it on your box, however this font cannot be included standard in the image as i is not free of copyright.

I found this comprehensive list on Chinese GNU fonts. The Firefly font seems a good choice as it's both traditional and simplified writing. It's included in the "fireflysung-1.3.0.tar.gz" archive. I'll give it a try and hopefully this open font can be included in the skin.

Could you pls. keep an eye on the data in the next couple of days, and check if no errors creep in.

I do not have the channels myself (and I do not read chinese) so it is a bit hard to check if the schedule is correct - or at least conforms to what is on the website.

One week further and all timings are still correct. I tried out fireflysung.ttf and it works just fine. Maybe this gpl-licensed font could be included somehow?

Just updated openpli and "skin_default.xml" got overwritten. This is the file I edited to point to the Chinese font. Is there a way to do this without update messing things up?

Try copieng the skin_default.xml to skin_user.xml. Edit this file.
Try now if the changes comes trough.

(i read once that the skin_user.xml overrides the skin_default.xml)

Since there is no skin_user.xml in the update it will not be overwritten.
If you reflash your box, you should save this skin_user.xml file somewhere else.

Looks normal to me, but remember I do not have access to these channels.

Could you describe what is wrong. What are the symptoms.
You also could try restarting your box and try a new import.
And post the import log pls.
