Does anyone know if there is a way to disable service names from being updated?

Some images have an option for that, for example ViX.
Sony VPL-HW55ES + Stewart Firehawk 182cm, 2 * Nvidia Shield, LibreElec + 5 * Intel NUC, Vu+ Uno4k & T90+8lnb, 28Tb Thecus N7510 NAS, Denon AVR-X1100W, AMX+ 3*Ipad, 3*KefQ1, 4*KefQ2DS, Elac S12EQ

Thanks for the response
Do you know if its possible to just rename the service in a user bouquet? This way I wouldn't need to disable service name updating.

disable backgroundscanning

Thanks, I also saw that adding a #DESCRIPTION line in the user bouquets file will let me rename only in those files.
Thanks for the support everyone.

Yes, you can change the name in a given bouquet using DreamboxEdit.

ET9000, OpenPLi 4.0, 13E, 19E

HD51, OpenPLi 6.2, 75E - 30W

I couldn't find a version of dream box edit for osx or linux, so this is not an option for me.

Hi awx!!!

DreamBoxEdit - Mac Edition 4.0.1.1 v1.1 Ported By Bobsilvio.

HERE

I`m running it on Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74), i don`t use it that much so i`m not running it on a daily basis, but if i remember correctly, it works fine but you gotta edit your box`s profile everytime you launch it, another option is to use "webbouqueteditor" from the download feed under "extensions", accessible from webinterface as "BouquetEditor" under extras after download.

Enjoy!.

Thanks, Ill give those options a try definitely better than trying to manually edit the files.

Better not turn off background scanning, it has some nasty side-effects.

In the lamedb there is a flag to prevent enigma from changing the name of the service, you can either set that flag manually (use search function / google, it has been mentioned earlier) or use an external bouquet editor to set this flag on the service.

By the way, VIX, why hasn't this change been pushed back to OpenPLi or at least been published? Looks like a useful extention to me.

Not anymore, the old refcount bug is avoided now. (since a couple of months)

I was referring to updates in the metadata of the service.

ok, indeed a valid reason to keep the background scan enabled ;)

I just assumed you were referring to the infamous refcount bug, because of which we have been advising people to not disable background scan for a long time.
