I have borrowed a dreambox from my friend. So I'm a bit new to the receiver.
I had already flash it with "PLi Jade Final Dm500 Fixed Version 20081003, PLi Jade Final Dm500 Fixed Version 20081003" and I wonder about 2 things currently:
1, Can I add a russian language to the menu?
2. Is the CCcam version 2.0.9 outdated? If so how can I upgrade it?

Why you did not flash it with last OpenPli image ? I think, there is Ru language etc ...

well I don't know I was suggest by one guy that this version is the most stable one. well anyway what should I do?

by the way just wondering, can the dreambox make rs232 sharing?

I would suggest the latest OpenPLi image too. It's more stable than the one from 2008 and contains a newer CCcam.
There's indeed a Russian translation (downloadable from the Dreambox itself).

where can I find the latest version?
I see only beta version (nightly builds), and there is too much of them.
also what old framebuffer means?

latest version = latest nightly builds

old framebuffer - i think, on wiki is some about it, but it was some for older dm500 with green picture

The old framebuffer is only needed for the first production series of the DM500. Only install it if the normal image shows you a GUI in which the grey's look greenish...

Also, if you opt for the Maxvar version, you'll have a lot more space in the R/W var partition to play with.

what is MaxVar version? (Maximum options?) How do I opt in?

The normal version has some languages, some plugins, skins and CCcam preinstalled. If you don't need that, use the MaxVar version. That one doesn't have anything preinstalled and give you more space to install what you want.

thanks for the help I want to edit my question after I found the answer but couldn't, I'm some why limited by the system on replies.

well anyway, I need a help in setting up a home sharing, so I have this dreambox with a card and openbox s10.

now I did edit the CCcam.cfg which is found in var/etc and wrote this F: abcde edcba 5 1 1 { } { } { } 192.168.1.1
well as I read in the CCcam readme the default port is 12000 but it seems that I cannot connect
what have I done wrong or what else should be installed? (I have just installed the dm500 version from today)
