Can anyone explain how channel numbering works in the current images?

It looks like the service number field in lamedb is only ever used for a check to skip the service, if the number is -1

I would like each bouquet to start counting from 1
But someone here on the forum said that this was not possible.

I think this should be possible to do
I have found two key places that this would need to be changed in the python source.
One is in the class InfoBarNumberZap and the other I believe was in the ChannelNumber renderer.

Ill take a look when I have sometime to changing the way channel numbers are numbered.

Any idea if there is a user definable field is user bouquets?

ehm, one short question, if you change that, how can I go from channel 1 on bouquet one to channel 1 on bouquet two ?
the easiest way for me atm is simply typing 110 (1st channel on my second bouquet), don't want to mis that functionalitiy

I dont have a good answer to that question right now, but as I would suggest for it to be add it would have to be configurable because not everyone likes it that way.

Sorry, but to me, this does not make sense.

I personally preferr that my bouquets not start at incremented numbers but actually be individual channel lists, otherwise I could just have all services have a configurable number and then just order it all in one big list. For me having two seperate lists that are logically tied by numbers does not make sense.
That being said that is my preference and I could see that you and others may not like that. So any change like this would have to be off by default and have the option of turning on.

Sorry, but to me, this does not make sense.

Because it is easy to remember which channel is #1 or #5 in a bouquet, whereas I will never be able to remember which channel is #21572. Especially as these number (at least of the most watched channels) in a bouquet will seldom if ever change, while channel 21572 might easily be # 20725 next time........
So if this option would be available, I would be one of the very first grateful users of it!

OK, but please make sure this is an option, not a must.
Mainly because if I want to go back quickly to my first and most important bouquet, I do it just by pressing one number on my remote.

Its definitly something that would have to be an option and I think it would never make it into any official release if it wasnt.
Also I think custom numbering would be useful, so not just starting at 1 but allowing each channel to be numbered as you wish in each bouquet.

I've seen people asking for this sort of option right back to eight years ago in the old Virgin Cable days on dBox2. Then, it was to try and replicate the VM numbering system, starting at 101 for Beeb One.

Since moving to Sat and DM500S, people often want to try and replicate Sly UK channel numbering. WHY?

For wifey and myself, nothing could possibly be easier and simpler than starting at 1 and upwards, as found in E1 and in Neutrino. So the first bouquet is 'Entertainment' where we arrange the channel order 'as':

1 - BBC One
2 - BBC Two
3 - ITV1
4.- Channel 4
5 - Channel 5

Now, what could more straightforward and easy to remember than that? In fact, none of the channels we watch regularly require more than two button presses to reach.

Just my two cents...

Posted on another forum by me. " I would very much like to have totally independant bouquets so that when zapping I want to stay within that bouquet. On my old Challenger STB I get the facility to add channels from a complete satellite list to individual bouquets and I can zap within a bouquet without leaving it. I use this facility for example as follows. I have two similar bouquets, each with the same channels in the same order. The second bouquet has additional channels added at the end. So bouquet one can have, say, 35 channels and bouquet 2 can have, say, 57 channels. Channels 36 to 57 in bouquet 2 are mainly erotic channels which I do not want everyone to see. So I can be watching say, channel 27 RTL9 on either bouquet and nobody needs to know that I could be watching it from within bouquet 2. It´s a form of Parental Control as long as no-one realises that there is more than one bouquet with the same initial channel list.
I repeat, I would very much like to have totally independant bouquets.
