Can you not make a option with a warn for a broken system to turn it on
And let it by default off.

My idea is to put it under menu > settings > software-beheer .. far away so people must know what they do .

Well, we've just removed the skin from the feed, just like we do with other destructive 3rd-party stuff, so all should be fine again tomorrow.

However, even if we don't put stuff like that in our 3rd-party feed, users will still install those ipk's manually, and still blame us when they cause problems

Sek, thank you very much, I'm happy with your changes . I've just tried them (I've done the standard update of the applications from my device). I don't remember if previously the "blue" touch was used for sorting, but now the combination with the "move to char" functionality is perfect .

remapped keys for moveToFirst, MoveToLast and MoveToFirstMovie functions - used ChannelUp and ChannelDown keys (move to first item - first movie - last item in a loop, direction depends on the key)

I looked for this fonctionality and I discovered it when I read again the post. It's good.

mapped keys for zap history as move to next / previous song or movie when playing in preview mode - if user goes directory tree and is browsing another folder, selection comes back to played item (listing its folder) and then next or previous item is selected and being previewed

Sorry, I don't understand what that means even if I tried to read all the post (I've some difficulties in English ).

Additionaly chosen letter is displayed in the screen for 1 sec as an information.

I don't see the letter. Perhaps it depends of the skin or because I used the standard update (I didn't take your files).

the behavior of number keys can be set in configuration screen (old behavior (move top, first movie, bottom) or "move to char" - as default). It could be also switched at any time by using audio key.

Where is this screen, I haven't found it? Is the "Audio" key the same as "Radio" key as we have "TV" key?

I also added functionality "move to char" by ascii as it is in channel selection. Unfortunately I don't have the keyboard to test it, so I'll apreciate any help.

What do you want to say? When you see a channel, you use the keyboard of the remote control? Or first you use the "Up" key or the "down" key to have the list of the channels and after you can use the "move to char" functionality?

We have removed this feature just to simplify Movie Player use.

Why not... My next steps will be:
- adding icons for indicate played song / movie in preview (I have written it today, now I'll need some time for testing)
- adding image preview feature
- reading / loading playlists such as m3u or pls

I'm waiting for you ideas.

For image preview, I think you can show a "still" image of the current movie position. A quick way to do it is to just play the movie and pause it.

An optimal way would be to fetch the access point and play just one frame into the decoder, this requires a bit of C++ coding too, I fear. This way, the preview image ends up in the video buffer (not the OSD) so that it works on all skins (even those without PiG) and uses much less resources as the video frame can be decoded in hardware. And you don't need to use the grabber to fetch a preview image, and no need to store preview images either (though storing the offset+size of the preview frame would help a bit).

Something to handle MP3 in a more "music player" way, but I think it's better to use a dedicated player for that. The Merlin player makes a few steps in the right direction, but is just to hard to handle and manage.

I don't play mp3 (I haven't on the device), only movies and you also wrote also "movie"

It's about the channel selection. When I type on the keyboard to select a channel, I have only the figures, I don't access to the letters, what does not bother me because the channels are not all classified (sorted) by alphabetic order.

Another idea, when you access to the movie player, when you are in the tree of directories and movies, you have the current channel in a little window (the position and the size depend of the skin) but when you stop a movie and return to the tree, the window is empty and black. I should like to have again the current channel (usually a music channel for me) if it's possible .

I have other ideas but it's on the simple EPG (for example when I want to see another channel, I have to use ">" and "<" touches. It's not convenient and very long to go to a distant channel) but I don't think it's good to continue on this post .

one small (cosmetic) question/suggestion:
when you got set 'delete...' under the red /or any_other_colour/ button (it's pretty common I suppose/?/)
and then you highlight a trashcan, button hint still says 'delete...', which may be a little confusing (I suppose no one wants to delete 'trashcan' itself...),
showing a 'empty trash' label in this case would be better imho,
is it possible to differ button label, depending on whether it's a 'regular' directory or a trashcan?

I made it this way on purpose. In some countries (read: Mine) watching a channel may cause the smartcard to go into "punishment" mode because it thinks you're sharing. Therefore, I don't want it to needlessly start live video if I can avoid it. After all, chances are that you will either just pick another item to play, or return to normal TV, in either case, restartng the last watched service isn't really pleasant.

I was hoping people could do without background noise for a few seconds, so I would not have to add yet another setting "Play background stuff" to the already obscure and endless pile of settings

Excuse me, I haven't understood all your message . You don't want there is the initial channel (MCP POP for example) in the small window when you leave a movie? You have this channel in the window when you launch the movie player. You find this unpleasant? So you prefer there is a black screen in the window when you stop a movie? Is it correct? Or it's impossible or difficult to do it?
