So you prefer there is a black screen in the window when you stop a movie? Is it correct?

Yes. That's what I want (and what I implemented).

Not just for the "stress" reason above (no need to switch on tuners, bug the smartcard, etc.) but also because I really like it nice and quiet, because always when I stop a movie, the current channel is broadcasting commercials using their "it sounds 12dB louder but fools the measurements" audio setting.

I'd rather use the PIG area for movie (and/or image) preview.

That is also my opinion. To be honest - I like the feature with black screen very much. Sorry sjlouis - I know it is not what you expected. For example I'm using movie player to listen to the music very often and it is very useful not to swich to any channel after the end of last song.

I'd rather use the PIG area for movie (and/or image) preview.

I also want to go in this direction.

Next ehancement - icons idicating item which is being previewed or previewed and recorded at the same time.

Just do it with movie files. The only difference is that they are not previewed one by one. I mean when you are previewing movie file (by pressing for example Play button) it stops when it goes to the end of the file, but you can use < > keys to skip to next or previous file in the list when the file is still being previewed.

It's about the channel selection. When I type on the keyboard to select a channel, I have only the figures, I don't access to the letters, what does not bother me because the channels are not all classified (sorted) by alphabetic order.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean - I'll borrow external keyboard and analyze the behavior.

WAOW! I'm very alone with this idea . Too bad for me . I should want an explanation : when you see the EPG, you have a channel in the window. When you go in the movie player, you have also a channel in the window, but when you stop and exit a movie, you haven't. Do you think it's logic? Isn't possible to have a parameter where you can write "Yes" or "No" to have the channel in the window when you exit a movie? I insist because I have a wireless audio helmet in the evening and after 10 or 15 seconds without sound, the helmet beep strongly and I have to switch it off.

What is the PIG area? For me, a pig is a pink animal .

I'm trying to explain it. When you want to see the EPG (the guide of TV programs), you can choice between the multi EPG and the simple EPG.

With the multi EPG, there is a different channel on every line. If you want to change channel, you use the "up" and "down" direction touches and the "left" and "right" touches to see previous and next hours (and days I think).

I only use the simple EPG and on the same page, you have only the program of the same channel. If you use the direction touches, you see the program of the other hours and the other days. If you want to see other channels, you use "<" and ">" touches. They are not direction touches. These ones are on the left and on the right of the "0" touch of the remote of my Xtrend.

As I have ~ 70 channels in my favourite list, if I want to go to another channel which is far away, I have to press a lot of time on the "<" or on the ">" touch and as the device accept 4 touches in a second, it’s a little boring and especially when I use the Logitech One remote which is (very) slow (only 2 touches in a second) . So I should want to go quickly from a channel to another channel. As my list is not alphabetically ordered (the first channels are French historic channels, then my little girls' channels, then movies channels, then sport channels and last musical channels). So I can't use alphabetic touches but it was possible to use numeric touches, it would be very convenient. If you can do it, I should be very happy .

Another question please. I don't receive a mail to advertise me when there is a response. As I have some difficulties to understand English, I haven't probably done the good thing : in "Notifications options", I marked and have chosen "Immediate" and for "Notification method to use for replies to followed topics", I marked "Email". Isn't it good or sufficient ?

Last point, I have some little problems with the movie player. I can't read anymore .avi files. I have only the sound. As I don't often look at them, I don't know if it's with the new version of the movie player or if I have lost a plugin. Wednesday, I have done a software update but it was not good and I have another problem : when I move a movie from the USB key to the hard disk (or from the hard disk to the movie key), the file don't disappear immediately from the USB key and don't appear on the hard disk. The first time, I think I haven't press the good touch and I do it again. At the end, I have an error message because there is no file to move, the movie was on the hard disk.

Previously, when I move a movie, it disappears from the USB key and it appears on the hard disk and you can see the size of the file increases regularly until the travel is finished.

Hello sek,

Yesterday, I accidentally press on the up arrow when I was seeing a movie and I return on the movie list while the movie continues to be read. It seems it's what you explained but it's not with the same touch : with the right arrow, it's to increase the speed (2x, 4x, 8x) and it's good for me. With the "<" and ">" touches, you can move to the marks of the movie and it's also good.

This discussion makes me remember it's impossible to have 16x and upper while it's possible on basic readers. It's also impossible to go back with the left arrow. To by-pass the problem, I use the numeric jump keys. Somebody have an explanation?

Another thing : when I have finished with the "Rise/Cut Editor" (I don't know the exact title in English) and I exit, I have the current channel in the small window. So I think that my demand have a logic because it's the only case where you haven't the current channel in the small window. As I wrote it, it's possible to define it in a additional parameter to satisfy also you. What do you think about this solution?

You haven't notice a problem with the .avi file and when you move a file?

You are not alone! To be honest I,m quite busy nowadays but I'm still working on it. Soon, perhaps even today I'll provide a new version with:
- icons for previewed items - that's exaclty what you did by pressing [Play] - preview:)
- correction and enhancement for using external keyboard - you'll be able to jump to the item which contains desired string in its name - not only one letter
- fix for jumping to next / previous song / movie - due to other changes it became broken

Yes, but that in the future. I like that idea, but it seems that it is more complicated and will require more time. I don't have environment for Enigma C programming yet.

Moving to char / string by external keyboard works as follows. For one letter it moves to the next item beginning with this letter. When user types more letters, it is looking for next item containing this string.
You must copy files movie_play.png and movie_play_rec.png into /usr/share/enigma2/skin_default/icons/

Which external keyboards shall we use? Smartphone keyboards? It's a good idea to find a word in the title. You have the same functionality in the EPG search : it finds all the programs which contain the word(s) you have typed. You have to use a screen to select the letters with the remote keyboard. It's binding (boring) but it's convenient when you have nothing else.

And maybe show the last viewed frame of a selected recording in the PiG-window?

The PIG window is what I call the small window in the movie player? You want to see the movie where you stopped it?

I have an infrared keyboard with USB stick. It is from Topfield receiver but it works also with my ET9000. I suppose that Dreambox keyboard or remote control with integrated keyboard such as from new receivers (like VU+ Ultimo or ET9500 etc.) should be working, too.
