I try to play MKV files with multiple audio and subtitles tracks

Video : mpeg4/avc
Audio : AAC
Sub : S_VOBSUB ( it is the same format as used on a DVD, which can play )

it can read subtitle system ( S_TEXT/UTF8 ) but there is often error when I convert them

I do not understand why if I dump a dvd to a mkv file, then the subtitles don't work
As with the program " MakeMKV " Http://www.makemkv.com

E2 together with gstreamer is not able to display graphical subtitles yet...

but I do not understand why it can display it during DVD and DVBSUB run on multiple channels, which are built the same way.

For DVDs we have a special dvdlib that covers such stuff....

For MKVs played via gstreamer the subtitles needed to be rendered by E2 itself...

so there is no way to cheat it, or steal code

For MKV format is the only thing I've found that can have multiple audio and subtitles tracks

And I have not found anything to convert S_VOBSUB to S_TEXT/UTF8 without failure in the text

It is not easy... when it was easy someone made it already.... DMM started to try it more then a year ago and they did not finish it....
And it is not really required. Most time you can find a proper srt file.

.srt file works fine if you give the same as movie and convert it to utf-8. you can use notepad++ for that.

Srt file, can be inside a mkv file, and I already have a large amount of DVD converted to mkv

all my dvd's on a nas server so they can be seen on all dreambox

but there are some who know about a program that can konvetere vubsub to utf-8 without making a lot of errors, because I can only download about 20 to 30% of the film titles I have.
