Maybe I missed something and I am not up to date but in old distros of OpenPli I could install and remove, setup etc the HDMI-CEC plugin.
Now there is no such plugin and unfortunetally it seems it is activated "by default" - at least on my box ;-)

So how to handle CEC now?
Setup or disactivate?

Yes, unfortunately Pli decide to make it on by default.
I thought that my Plasma was faulty at that time.
The plugin was suddenly standard activated.

You can deactivate the CEC thing in Plug-in list, at least it is present in my box.

 Hardware: Master VU Uno 4K SE  1x Mut@nt HD51.4K & 2x ZgemmaH9T
Software : Pli (v7) (7.1rc) 2019

it is called HDMI-CEC

if you don't see it, your box doesn't support it.

strange, my box used to support CEC, I could set up it, disable, enable, now my box becomes not compatible ;-)
My box it is Clarke Tech CT9100 and since the beggining was HDMI-CEC plugin visible, but after reinstall (few weeks ago) I cant find such plugin in my setup, the problem is my box DOES support but I dont like it but I can NOT disable it - what is very annoying

if you have a 9100, you should see the HDMI-CEC plugin in the plugin list. If you don't, check whether you see it under the red key (if so, it means it is installed).
If you don't even see it there, you somehow removed it (effectively disabling hdmi-cec support). But you might want to re-install it from the feed, and disable it, if you want to make sure everything is disabled.

you should either see it in the install list (under green), or in the remove list (under red).

If you don't trust what you see, try the commandline:

root@et9x00:~# opkg list_installed *hdmi*
enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-hdmicec - 2.7+git9669+af1201e-r31
root@et9x00:~# opkg list *hdmi*
enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-hdmicec - 2.7+git9669+af1201e-r31 - systemplugins-hdmicec
root@et9x00:~#

Is it still the case that dreamboxes don't support HDMICEC?

Does the plugin just configure HDMICEC setup & should it appear in plugins if supported?

Are HDMICEC Drivers built @ kernel as I'm sure I've seen HDMICEC driver load @ startup on DM800 n i've removed plugin.

Can HDMICEC Drivers be removed?

Many thanks in advance

HDMICEC is built in the drivers. And afaik DM's don't support it. The plugin is only the user interface that allows you to configure the HDMI CEC features.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I'm glad my thinking was basically correct.

so driver is not easily removed and should not cause any ill effect for dm's that don't support it?

You don't happen to know if Dream have any intentions to support it?

Drivers are closed source and produced by the manufacturer of the hardware. We don't have any influence on their development.
There is no such thing as a separate HDMI CEC driver, so there is nothing to remove.

Many Thanks for the Clarity.

Just got me curious really why the driver would be included when the box doesn't support it,

hi,

I have a TV tuner samsung 32C650 and Vu Duo .. running the plug-in HDMI-CEC .. the inclusion of TV is only as I turn the tuner, then disable it, and when you switch turns on the TV tuner ... why not turn on at the same time, and TV tuner?

REG.

The driver is not included.

Userspace support is available in e2, but only visible when the driver supports it.
This is because e2 has to support a whole range of hardware, with different capabilities.

Again Thanks, I understand the need to support a range of hardware with mixed capabilities, I just thought when building for a box that wasn't supported it would be omited, When checking my build, I saw the HDMICEC pluign in the red button remove plugins n thought I didn't think the 800 supported that! Then saw ref to HDMICEC Driver in a log, which got me asking questions.
Input device "dreambox ir keyboard" is a keyboard
Input device "dreambox ir mouse" is a mouse
Found 5 input devices!
+ (22) Hdmi CEC driver
+ (30) eActionMap
+ (35) CI Slots
scanning for common interfaces..
This is what peaked my curiosity in a log!

I've worked with AV control systems which is why my interest was peaked.

the check for cec support is runtime, rather than buildtime.
So nothing to worry about, you can ignore any CEC related log messages.
