Bad picture with Ultimo DVB-C

I have a problem with my picture quality on my Ultimo with two DVB-C tuners. I turn in OpenPli with latest updates. The image pixelated at times on the HD channels. The signal looks bad with a SNR 60% AGC 75% BER ~ = 1,640,000 on all chanels (HD and SD). I've tested a VTI 4.1 and i've the same problem. I plugged other boxes (Azbox Premium+, Dreambox DM 800) and I have no problem. The signal is exellent with a SNR 75% AGC 95% BER = 0 ! Maybe a driver problem ? What can I do or test to solve this problem ?
Thank you.
Best regard

On satellite and C and mostly on HD channels, so my guess is the drivers are screwing up things.
Sometimes half the screen gets frozen, like there's a buffer which got stuck.
Sometimes it's very present and annoying, sometimes it's looking to be okay.

can you write the frequencies of the cable channel that have problems? Can you watch what is happening in the room with the STB when there are problems? I mean switch on/off a device, WLAN reception or micro wave.
I have problems on 130MHz and when I switch off a certain lamp.

It gets worse if a second tuner kicks in, either streaming or recording.
Setup is simple.
2x S2 (1x 4 lnb's, 1x 11 lnb's, all connected through a multiswitch).
1x C, Ziggo Nl.
It seems to be connected with the transfer rate somehow.
If i watch a proper HD channel, it gets worse.
FTA channels respond the same, so softcams and so on can be left out of the equation.
I don't use any kind of EPG import or other weird plugin's, it's virtually a clean box.

VU+ Ultimo OpenPli 2.1 :
Tuner A : DVB-S2 on a dish with dual lnb
Tuner B + C : DVB-C, VOO, Belgium
I use CCcam 2.3, but the HD channels are FTA. Other plugin : Project Valerie, CoolTVGuide and Crossepg.
Several frequencies for HD channels with problems : 418 MHz, 410 MHz
Other boxes (Azbox Premium HD+, Dreambox 800) on the same cable have no problem.

VU+ is very much interested in this (possibly FPGA and/or driver related) problem. They are in the process of a survey, and they would appreciate any information on the box setup and the tuner-usage at the moment such a problems shows.

The contact information is on their website (see http://www2.vuplus.c...lus-articles/68 ).
I have been trying to contact VU+ for over a year due to a similar problem with slot 3 on my Ultimo.
The issue first arose after the FPGA update.
I originally had a DVB-T\C tuner in slot 3, but following the update the pixellation problem started occurring.
I swapped around the tuners in Slot 1 (DVB-S2) and Slot 3, but the problem remains with Slot 3.
I have emailed VU+ support on 3 occasions and used the problem submission form on their website, but they have never once acknowledged any communication from me.
I have 3 VU+ Duos and one VU+ Ultimo in my home.
Is there any way you can help me to get in contact with them?

Hi,
When I had the VU+ Duo² I had exactely the same problem on the same cable provider Voo with the same symptom. Same cable works fine in Sundtek USB stick and, Azbox with DVB-C and Samsung TV.
This is definitively a bug in VU+ DVB-C tuner, I also open up a ticket at VU+ and propose to help them but no answer at all. Now I have no more VU+ so I can no longer help them.
A possible issue is that the signal is too strong and saturates the tuner so we should try with an attenuator on the line, but since I don't have such attenuator I could not test it.

When I had the DVB-T\C tuner in slot 3, I put an attenuator on but it did not fix the problem.
And the problem is not confined to DVB-T\C.
I swapped in a perfectly good DVB-S2 from Slot 1 and it displays the same problem.
And the DVB-T\C is now working perfectly in Slot 1.
I am very disappointed with the total lack of response from VU regarding this.

Hi,
It seems that this problem is well-known in Germany and that a capacitor needs to be removed from the tuner placed in slot-3 in order to fix it.
You should search on german speaking board for the solution.

It seems that the tuner dvb-c VU+ are very (too) sensitive. My provider has worked on the network and since I have no more problems. I have no pixelation but the tuner always indicates a poor signal quality with a high BER. On my Azbox, the signal is excellent with BER = 0.

According to me using very sensitive is not really the correct term to qualify the VU+ DVB-C tuner, especially if you compare it with other brand DVB-C tuners on the same cable! The tuner was connected just after a signal amplifier installed by my cable provider to split the signal to 4 TVs, on my installation and the same cable is working fine on Azbox, Sundtek DVB-C stick and Samsung build-in tuner so on 3 other brand devices.
So the VU+ DVB-C are very sensitive to problems that's the fact.
