First of all, I want to thank everybody who made OpenPLI so fantastic. I’ve been using OpenPli for years now and just love it. Great job :)

The remote of my DM8000 is in need of replacement. Rather than buying a new “original” DM8000 remote control I’m thinking of buying a universal one.

Does anybody have a recommendation?

There are cheaper models of logitech. They can be found on ebay etc... in the $40-$60 range, new. I've used the 688 for a couple years, it may be discontinued now, but they're around as NOS (new old stock)...

The ones that contain rechargable batteries & recharging bases are more expensive, but you can buy a couple Ni/mh batteries and a cheap charger for $20-30. My Ni/mh last about 3 weeks on a charge, a lil longer if you disable the backlight. Of course how often it's used effects the battery life...
