More bug found with my ET6000:

The USB Harddrive is detected..I can playback contents recorded under PLI 2.1...but no writing possible...Message: "HD not initialysed...."
I understand why I could not get back EPG data downloaded on HD since no record on it..
Is there some specific initialisation process for writing....My PLI 2.1 came with kernel 3.3..I think it's EXT4....

Today, I have given a 2nd try on the current 3.0 on my dm8000 and I was suprized. No crashes, no endless spinners or whatsoever.
Thanks to the developers for the work.

There is only one minor thing. I cannot mount any dvd from console or plugin even after I have created /dev/sr0 and /dev/sg0.
Perhaps, there are some more kernel modules to be installed ?
Can anybody mention the packages essential for dvd mounting beyond those from below, please ?

Thanks

You should never (need to) create /dev/ nodes yourself. If the node isn't there, the driver is missing. So if you used mknod to create that node, your problem is a missing driver.

Hi, i testing OpenPli 3.0 and network share mounting not work for me.

It's not possible with same config as for 2.1.

mount.cifs \\\\192.168.222.211\\WDTVLiveHub /media/net -o guest
mount error(2): No such file or directory
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g.man mount.cifs)

DMESG:

[ 4691.424000] CIFS VFS: could not allocate des crypto API
[ 4691.424000]
[ 4691.425000] CIFS VFS: Error -2 during NTLM authentication
[ 4691.426000] CIFS VFS: Send error in SessSetup = -2
[ 4691.427000] CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -2

It's look as any modules are not present.

if that is the solution, this should fix it:

opkg install kernel-module-ecb

Please let us know whether that indeed fixes it, then we can add the module to the image by default.

Right, but I was not sure if a possibly broken driver was really creating these. I remember old kernels where this was neccessary.
I had to install packages kernel-module-cdrom and kernel-module-sr-mod manually for drivers cdrom and sr_mod..
In dmm's oe2.0 they are installed by default.
I also have to load sr_mod manually to get dvdplayer on the screen.
What about adding them as dependency for enigma2-plugin-extensions-dvdplayer to make it more foolproof ?

this will be needed for more plugins, not for dvdplayer only... ( dvdplayer is not needed more, dvd can be played from movieplayer too).
On 3.0 it seems, there is missing support for DVD yet. I tried install modules, but 3.0 doesnt known read dvd-rom on my 800se.

Hi,

Does softcam start when you reboot your box with OpenPli 3.0?

Each time I reboot the box (after an upgrade) the softcam doesn't start automatically, if I go to Softcam Setup menu and use the Restart softcam then it starts.
So the script seems to be correct for the stop) and start) section, if I call it via command line with start parameters it also works.

I use the script from the package oscam-experimental.

Hello all,
As you can read in several topics, in our development email list and via our twitter account we are working on: OpenPLi 3.0.
These 3.0 images are at some risk at these moments, so don’t use and flash them if you don’t want any trouble!

What are the benefits of OpenPLi 3.0:
We are just moving the current openpli openembedded recipes to an oe-core layer, and adjusting them to the new bitbake requirements.
The new 3.0 images will come online in a few hours, the buildproces at our build server is running at the moment.
There will be no new user features or real user changes, we just updated the build environment (update to openembedded-core).

When the 3.0 images are at beta stage you need to reflash, you can not upgrade to 3.0 from earlier versions.

Greetings,

The OpenPLi team.

In addition, after initialization fealure under PLI 3. then coming back to PLI 2.1...

My brand new USB hardrive has become useless...unable to initialize it again....
tested on WINDOWS..Initialzation procces did not work neither formating....
PLI 3 put a lot of mess in the HD..I fear it is lost for either..along with one certain amount of money lost.....

SO DON'T USE OPEN PLI 3 ON ET6000

Until we get insurance the HD initialization is safe!!!!
