Looks, nobody of developers have no time to respond. Should uninstall PLi and take into use some other alternative up the bugs are eliminated.

During of this work I had a small problem with my DCC-e2 v 1.5, no telnet connection (telnet login incorrect), only ftp was ok. Now I lost also ftp connection. I think it happens after I made over menu software upgrade.

What do you exactly mean then.... for FTP you do not need special programs. With W-7 you simply can FTP to the box via explorer or even use samba???

All the way or not?

Indeed I can verify no Infobar at the Mediaplayer now...???

PLi3 update trouble

Last update ends with this error:

* opkg_download: Failed to download http://downloads.pli-images.org/feeds/openpli-3.0/dm8000/dm8000/kernel-module-crc-ccitt_3.2-r9.25_dm8000.ipk, wget returned 1.
* opkg_install_pkg: Failed to download kernel-module-crc-ccitt. Perhaps you need to run 'opkg update'?

Normally over GUI, but this time (after the last update) my box (dm8000) starts in STOP mode. So I had to reflash it and to update over telnet with 'opkg update && opkg upgrade -force-overwrite'. Then I saw the error with the missing kernel-module-crc-ccitt.

The actual error:
Downloading http://downloads.pli-images.org/feeds/openpli-3.0/dm8000/dm8000/kernel-module-crc-ccitt_3.2-r9.25_dm8000.ipk.
wget: can't connect to remote host (85.17.88.86): No route to host

which is really really weird.

Could be that some ISP was playing with his BGP tables at that time, or you tried in the middle of a BGP convergence operation in your path.

Is this a one-time error or is 't persistent? This host definately exists, I'm logged into it at the moment... ;)

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

I made time to time nfi backups. The last one was from 2 Aug. So after the ccitt problem I repeated three times the same procedure:

-flashed the backup from 2 Aug.
-updated with 'opkg update && opkg upgrade -force-overwrite'
-rebooted / after that the box starts in STOP mode.

All three times with the same result: the ccitt issue.

PS. I never had update problems before.

"No route to host" means that it doesn't know where to send the IP packets. Which is weird because it sent a bunch already to get all the other files.

I'd think it more likely that your backup is somehow damaged, and the fault is caused by a corrupted file.

File corruption was not the cause but your last update.

I downloaded from server and installed now a "virgin" 'OpenPLi-3.0-beta-dm8000-20120802'. After installation and reboot I made a normal update (over GUI) to '20120806'. The system made sucessfully the update (64 files) but after reboot box starts again in STOP mode.

The "stop" that happens if you upgrade the kernel on the dm8000 is known and a fix is in the repo. Just flash the latest image directly and you will never see that bug again (even if you flash yesterday's image without the fix - the problem is in the upgrade routine which only runs if the kernel is being replaced).

I was only referring to that weird download error (which is totally unrelated to the "stop") of kernel-module-crc-ccitt. So I understand you did NOT get that very same "no route to host" error three times, it just went into stop mode three times.

Ok, I've just read your '/boot' fix.
Flashing new images like 'OpenPLi-3.0-beta-dm8000-20120806' will work because the "STOP" problem was fixed. But how can we update existing backup images?

Bij making a backup via the autobackup plugin and then a one time reflash?

The problem is how to "save" existing optimized backup images.

@Milo
Is there any way/workaround to apply your '/boot' fix manually to backup images and make them updatable?
