Do you have a file /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Istanbul ?
And if so, where does /etc/localtime point to?
(ls -la /etc/localtime)
No I do not have. When I did the command below I get the following
root@dm500hd:~# ls -la /etc/localtime
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 35 Jun 4 21:02 /etc/localtime -> /usr
share/zoneinfo/Europe/Istanbul
root@dm500hd:~#
But the files are located in /usr/share/zoneinfo. There is no Europe.

What is the output of
opkg info timezones-alternative
and
opkg files timezones-alternative
root@dm500hd:~# opkg info timezones-alternative

weird, but in that case the solution is simple, install the package:
opkg install timezones-alternative
I'm wondering how you got an image without timezones-alternative though...
This did the trick.

I just downloaded the nighly build images.
Perhaps something was overwritten during the upgrade.
