Does someone here have hands on experience with DVB-T usb-tuners on an Xtrend 9500 with openpli?
I prefer to buy one which works out of the box

thanks in advance

This page is a good reference, but no guarantee: http://www.linuxtv.o...B-T_USB_Devices

Xtrend runs kernel 3.3 afaik, so theoretically anything that is listed as working with kernel 3.3 or older on that page, should work.

You'll still need to install the appropriate drivers (and firmware) manually. Also if you're on openpli-3.0 the drivers will most likely fail to autoload on boot, so using openpli-2.1 is easier atleast for now.

Another tip is to check what drivers are available in plugin menu/drivers, and then use the page above as a reference for what will almost certainly work.

are you sure?
autoload entries have been there since the early start of 3.0

I probably didn't use the correct term here. Modules will load, but firmware loading fails, but I think thats a known issue.

for example:
[ 17.892000] dvb-usb: found a 'TechniSat AirStar TeleStick 2' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
[ 78.816000] dvb-usb: did not find the firmware file. (dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw) Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more details on firmware-problems. (-2)

Workaround is to just unload the module and then load it again, and it will pick up the firmware. The boot delay / firmware loading timeout is a bit of an annoyance though. :)

That should have been fixed a few weeks ago, do you still have those problems?

Weird things happening today.. The dm500hd was last updated 3-4 days ago, and the stick was for sure not working then. So I ran online update today, and after this the box dies completely. Boot loader flash over ethernet works though and I get a new openpli image in this way. Now the stick seems to be working at boot again!

Guess something was wrong in the previous install/flash...

Seems I was too hasty, the module loads, firmware too it seems. Tuner is detected by enigma2 normally. But when trying to watch a channel - nothing.

Just spotted the thread of todays update om DMM hardware causing the upgrade problem. So it wasnt just me having a bad day then.. anyway, the problem above remains.

Tried unloading/loading the module, restarting enigma2 and such. Still same problem. A guess would be that todays changes/update maybe made the dm500hd run into new problems.

Sorry to OP for cluttering your thread with this..

I have dvbt usb with chipset it913x, and since kernel 3.3 usb just disconnect after few minutes. when install pli 3.0 with latest kernel 3.4.3 and download firmware from feed, box cant start, just stay on "booting".... so I think, somebody have to compile dvb-usb-it9135-01.fw for latest kernel. until that, I have to use image with kernel 3.2.2

On Pli 2.1 & 3 my Twintech UT30 is perfect. this stick is based on Realtek RTL 2832 wich you can find the driver in the packets.

In addition, this new ship works like a dream in HD...no freezes even in tough signal situation. And it costs almost nothing..20€ including the telco...
