What does not work?
You do
telnet <your-box-ip>
enter username "root", and then what?

Ok, so you don't have a password problem, you have a problem logging into your box from the internet?
By default that is blocked in OpenWebIf, as it is very insecure. I assume you have enabled both HTTPS and HTTP authentication in the plugin configuration, and restarted your box?

Can not get stream from outside... I try to log in, it demand login and password. I tryed already: ROOT and my pasword that i set before via telnet, "root" and blank password, "root" and "dreambox", "nbox", "openpli",
Nothing...

I assume you try to login from another subnet, if that is so then you'll have to adjust a setting take a look at Access OpenWebif from another subnet assume in the WIKI, good luck

If you can connect from inside using http, why do you try to connect from outside using https, if the box isn't running that?

Hi,
By default OpenWebif prevent access from the external world.
On your STB, Press Menu button on the RCU.
Then go into Plugin
Select: OpenWebif
There you will have option to enable the authentification, if you still saw the warning: "Without authentification only local access is autorised" this means that you still need to enable other option there. When OpenWebif is ready for external access this mention disappeared.

So your problem is with the streaming and not the access to the OpenWebif from the outside?
So accessing the OpenWebif is working right?

This goes on and on because you are not clear in what exactly your problem is. You talk about https, and about a password, but the two are completely unrelated.
So step one: Does https works from the local network? Or do you use http there?
If https doesn't work locally, how do you expect it to work on the internet?
If https works locally, how do you provide access from the internet to your box?
And does the https connection work but you get a password prompt? Or does the connection not even work (as in your browser doesn't even want to connect)?
Also, post a screenshot of your OpenWebif configuration screen.

I tryed local via only HTTP and it is ok. Without pass.
When i try from the world with HTTPS it ask me for login and password which i need to reset probobly.
I think i didn't try via HTTPS from local network.
Internet to STB is like: cable--->router--->STB; all with cables.(RJ45) ports opened be couse i have ask for login and password from Webif when try.

If I set "Enable HTTP Authentication" to yes, I need to authenticate to access the web interface, no matter if I am local or not.
If I set "Enable Authentication for streaming" to yes too, it just re-uses the session from the web interface, and generates a URL like https://-sid:2a2aa46...2:11A0000:0:0:0:. It does not prompt me for a password. This by the way will also show you this will not work from outside your LAN, as it contains the internal IP address of the box.
So I am not much closer to what you exactly do to het this question for login and password.
Please note: neither using HTTPS, nor using a password, will make exposing your box on the internet safe. It is not a security device, it doesn't have any rights protection (everything runs as root), Plenty of people are scanning the innernet for exposed streams they can add to their illegal IPTV network.

Yes, after you setup a vpn connection to your stb (or router, or nas). Otherwise, you shouldn't want to.

Via a VPN, yes. It is the only secure option, but it requires VPN access to be enabled.
Via a router port forward: yes, both on HTTP and HTTPS, but it requires authentication to be enabled, remote root access must NOT be disabled (unless you created your own acccounts). And it is NOT secure.
If authentication is enabled, you MUST set a password first, as by default the root user in OpenPLi does not have a password set (which is not the same as a blank password!).
To set a password, use the rootpassword plugin, or telnet into the box and use the "passwd" command.
