I'm currently using both, the newer "OpenWebif" and the old "original" web-interface (On different ports of course).

The main consideration is compatibility resp. interoperability:
I use "Bouquet Editor Suite", "DreamDroid" and "TV-Browser 3.1" which all require some access to the Enigma2-box using the web-interface. At least TV-Browser, resp. it's CapturePlugin, is quite picky about the web-interface and only works using a patched CapturePlugin.

If they all would work together with OpenWebif without problems, I would happily drop the old-webinterface, as it looks quite outdated, compared to the lean and clean OpenWebif.

Does anyone have any experience using the programs mentioned above without the old-webinterface being installed at all?
Do you know other "stoppers" for dropping the old-webinterface?

yes: fancontrol2 doesn't show in the PC's browser if the webinterface-old isn't installed.

When you add timers you can only give one tag (instead of several)

Mutant HD2400, OpenPLi nightly, 2x DVB-C & 2x DVB-S

Mutant HD51, OpenPLi nightly, 1x DVB-C & 1x DVB-S

Wavefrontier T55 (Astra 1,2,3 en HB)

Smartcards Ziggo (Irdeto) and CDS (Seca) on Oscam

You cannot stream "alternative channel lists" items with new OpenWebif.
