Hello,
I tried to reinstall the ET 6000 like you do when you have problems with your PC.
My main problems are:

you have to hit the on-off power switch at the backside of the box 2-3 times on off until the box turns on

the keys at the front of the box don’t have any function

when I would like to enter deep standby mode the screen “your STB is turning off” (german: Ihre STB wird ausgeschaltet.) remains permanently and the box doesn’t enter deep standby mode

recording tv broadcast doesn’t work sometimes: infoscreen: In order to execute the timer recording, it is switched to the to be recorded channel (german: Um die Timeraufnahme durchzuführen wird auf den aufzunehmenden Kanal umgeschaltet) When this problem happens, it doesn't record but only creates an timer in the timer list.

updating bootloader / firmware doesn't work
In order to solve the deep-standby problem I tried to install the new Bootloder 02.2012 and the new firmware version OpenPLi-2.1-beta-et6x00-20120724_usb.
But the box starts normally, even though I have plugged in the memory stick with the folder et6x00 on it into the front usb interface. The box doesn’t recognize the bootloader update on the stick. The same thing with the firmware update. I have tried another memory stick, too.
Unfortunately no success.
What can I do or is there another possibility to update the bootloader, firmware by telnet, ftp-client or something?
Can I test whether the front keys on the front of the box are sending keystrokes but maybe the firmware doesn’t process, handle them or they are not associated/conjugated with/ to a function (e.g change channel…)?
Many thanks in advance.
Hightech

Also when there is something else connected to any other USB port, the update will fail, with any USB stick. Atleast on my ultimo, I think the bootloader is pretty crappy seeing how this happens..
Perhaps you're seeing something similar?

Same issue with my ET6000 after deepstandby....no more boot..just the pinguins...
Tried to flash several images with same result..at the end no more flashing process could start...
Sent it back to the shop...the guy is discussing with X-trend to solve the problem...

i solved the problem by flashing the firmware by renaming unforce to force....
but bootloader flashing is still impossible
2 times turning switch on off to boot (start the box)...

It look like there is a serious quality issue on all ET6000 as reported in several forums including Xtrend support.
Two cases,
all those that neither use deep standby could not see any problem.
but as soon you are willing to use this feature the STB goes into troubles....

I fear that XTrend has to change all ET6000 motherboards as it is often difficult to change only one component due to surface mounting...

When it is induced due to a newer bootloader... it should be solvable by again a newer bootloader...
I hope so.....
If so simple to fix the issue via new bootloader, that should have been settled in a minute by providing new one..
Obviously that not the case...
I am rather pessimisctic as the symptom is more that of sudden circuit fealure after certain working time...
As you can observe, all ET6000 have problem almost at the same time...

But wasn't the issue introduced after a bootloader upgrade?... then it should be fixed by another bootloader upgrade and we've to wait for a new revision of bootloader (as it seems you cannot downgrade).
No bootloader upgrade done...so far I now, the ET6000 is pretty recent...the installed bootloader had not to be upgraded....

Is there one separate "small" flashrom circuit for bootloader plus the "big" flashrom for image???
In that case the botloader part is OK as I have been told by OpenPLi people, one can observe the twin pinguins...
If this is right, that is flashrom circuit fealure...

Usualy, the flashrom itself is very reliable...may be not the case for periphéral circuits..

Security boards are the problem in some series.
They are, or become faulty after some time and have to be replaced.
Hello,
Do you know what is exactly this security board?
One can see these words mentioned on the mother board close to the battery...
