Personally, I prefer an STB that makes an excellent espresso...

How about a STB that can GENERATE great content instead of relying on the content others come up with?

That would suggest that you would have any sort of control about what we do and don't do.
Which is, as you have seen in hemertje's reply, is not the case. This is our hobby, so we build what we like to build. It's open source, so anyone else can pick it up if they are willing to spend time on it.
I for one find it a useless addition, an STB is not a network device. You'll have to get the wifi adapter in AP mode, you'll need to setup bridging between the wifi and eth device, and worse of all, you load al kinds of non-related traffic on the already stretched eth device of the box. Causing streaming and recording to fail when the "AP" is under load, which in turn will increase the support effort we will have to put in. All because you rather use our free time then buy a 20$ wireless AP...

What I said is that if you build in these features, people are going to use it.
If a wireless client uses the full available wireless bandwidth (say with a 802.11n stick or built-in module), chances are the 100Mbps wired port will be utilized to the max, causing recording and streaming to fail (due to lack of bandwidth and buffering issues). Such utilization will also cause high CPU, which in turn will have an effect on the performance and responsiveness of Enigma.
When this happens, people will not say "I caused the problem myself, so I'm not going to do that anymore", people will come here and complain we build something that doesn't work. Or even worse, they come and complain "my recordings are full of hickups" or "I can't watch a stream" without even mentioning they overload the box via the built-in AP functionality. Sending us on a wild goose chase, wasting our precious free spare time.
OpenPLi is not a commercial product (or even a product at all), and as such it does not have a roadmap. When a developer decides tomorrow to replace the epg.dat with a MySQL database, then that is going to happen. Just because he feels like it.

Actually i noticed a total freeze of the box while ftp something to the solo2 (gigabit eth) while watching a channel. Is there a way to put the solo2 into "ftp mode" till the transfers finishes then go back to watching tv.

That has nothing to do with ftp. It's the buggy drivers from vuplus that make the box completely freeze every now and then, not especially while transferring files.
