I have a dm8000 with openpli 3.0..
after like 1-2days of uptime the box begans to be real slow in menys and such.. the 'thinking wheels' always turns up when etc changing channel.
so i wonder if there is a smart addon or a script that can flush the mem easy?.. or a 'time based' .. like flush every 5th hour or so?
big thx for all your effort on making the best image

What plugins did you install?
The box should be able to run for months without rebooting or needing any "flush" at all. Like mine. What you describe sounds like a bug (memory leak?) in a plugin.

I suspect crossepg has a serious memory leak. The problem is, it runs as a plugin in the enigma process space, so it doesn't have it's own memory. Downside: you cannot simply kill the process to reclaim the memory, upside: it will suffice to restart enigma for a clean start, you don't need to restart the box.

Does that mean that the Open-TV (proprietary EPG system) could be extracted from Cross and added to the in PLi supported systems?no it isn't:
crossepg (which is as far I known closed source)
https://github.com/E...plugin-CrossEPG
If so that would be a great enhancement of PLi: Open-TV is a very good system, in which the data is being kept up-to-date very well.

The only reason we haven't added an opentv reader to e2 is that ideally we should fix the epgcache before adding new readers.
(doesn't feel right to just pile more garbage onto an already growing heap, makes it harder to restructure things)

Well, first of all one doesn't have to activate all the types of EPG.there have been opentv implementations around for quite some time.

Secondly: supporting Open-TV would omit the need to use the instable Cross-EPG plugin (most people use it for Open-TV, maybe xmltv added);
Thirdly this would make PLi even more outstanding. It is (AFAIK) already the only image supporting several proprietary EPG-systems; adding Open-TV would make that even better.

Yep, currently the EPG cache is allowed "unlimited growth", combined with a highly fragmented memory structure that makes it impossible to determine how much RAM is actually being consumed by it. If you (really) run out of RAM, usually the EPG data is to blame.
