Security with a battery included is currently common use. And the 10 years that batteries should last minumal are the normal specifications. And until know there are no issues at all regards early depleted batteries with ET-boxes. So there is even not an issue at all!!! We're are we talking about here?

This is just a thread about the fact that everybody knows a battery may deplete over a specific time so this battery will also deplete too soon...

And as this is not an openPli related thread - more a manufacurer related thread - I suggest that a moderator might consider closing this thread....

Looks like you have a shelf for your head.

ok so there is some worry about the battery on this device that should it fail the security chip will loose data and render the box inoperative. Here are a couple of ideas. I see back in the topic the box checks the battery on startup so the Battery condition is available so perhaps that can be shown in use on an info screen that way warning of early failure could be seen. Take some precautions and don't leave the box un powered for months at a time. If the battery is is getting low on power then it can be replaced without loosing the data in the chip by simply piggybacking another backup supply across it while the battery is changed. As has ben pointed out this technology has been around for many years and has been proven otherwise it would not be still in use. It can fail as has been pointed out but then there is a chance of failure with all the other forms of security protection too sim cards break and flash memory can become corrupt. The only difference with battery backup is that batteries do have a finite life expectancy so instead of complaining about it because its there you aren't going to change it plan for the future monitor the battery and get it change before it fails. I don't have one of these boxes yet but I plan to get one soon as pointed out they are still doing the most development surely that out weighs any minor issue with a battery in the security system.

I don't think this is needed, the battery will easily last 10 years, even with the box switched off for they entire period.
The issue here is about a percieved technical defect that might or might not occur.

I think we can talk about it until we're blue in the face, but other then complain about some guesswork we can't do, and therefore this discussion isn't very meaningful.

So let's leave it at this, until there is some positive evidence and we can re-open this discussion.

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
