I put together a package which allows displaying of content on LCD as scrolling text. 'SCROLL-LCD-TEXT' is fully skin independent, that means, no matter what skin is actually used, the LCD display will be controlled from skin_user.xml
Tested on DM8000 with this images: openPLi3 and openAAF

The package contains 5 scrolling renderers, skin_user.xml and a thin font. No existing file will be modified.

After the installation, one or more items of this summary's will be displayed on LCD as scrolling text:
'InfoBarSummary'
'ChannelSelection_summary'
'MenuSummary'
'InfoBarMoviePlayerSummary'
'MovieContextMenuSummary'
'MovieSelectionSummary'
'SetupSummary' 'SimpleSummary'
'PluginBrowserSummary'

To install SCROLL-LCD-TEXT:
-copy SCROLL-LCD-TEXT___PLi3__27_08_12.tar.gz to /tmp
-over telnet: tar -xvzf /tmp/*.tar.gz -C /
-restart GUI, thats all.

To deactivate SCROLL-LCD-TEXT:
-just delete or rename this file: /etc/enigma2/skin_user.xml

@amigo
Thanks for sharing your experience with 2.1 :)

Can you tell me which rds radiochannels you mean?

@wortellica
I have only a dm8000, but as I can see you have a 7020HD. So if you can, test it on your 7020HD and report here the result ;)

A lot of german radio channels have a rds kinda artist/trackname, see for example rockantenne and wait for a new song to begin.

i think info @ python/screens/rdsdisplay

Attached File  skin_user.xml   7.64KB   38 downloads including time and date. Replace this in etc\enigma2. But now I have another question if I turn a movie from the hard disk than the text remains at a standstill. There Is also a possibility to get this moving? I believe that not from there but I'll be able to.

This is a known bug... It happens on some lists. I call it "the list bug".
If you open the MovieList and start playing a movie, the movie-name is not scrolled. You have to start another movie (not the same) without quitting MovieList, to have movie-name scrolled.

------------

Here is my actual skin_user.xml

Changes:

- InfoBarMoviePlayerSummary now: Remaining time
- SimpleSummary now is scrolled (Eventview, etc.)
- and many small optimizations :)

-over telnet: tar -xvzf /tmp/*.tar.gz -C /
-restart GUI, thats all.

To deactivate SCROLL-LCD-TEXT:
-just delete or rename this file: /etc/enigma2/skin_user.xml

When i copy the line tar -xvzf /tmp/*.tar.gz -C / using telnet on macbook pro (X idream) i get ..
tar; can't open '/tmp/*.tar.gz' :no such file or directory
The file is in tmp on dm8000

Strange. Same configuration here (iDreamX, DM8000, PLi3) but no problems:

Or you can use the plugin 'Dream-Exprorer' to install it. It works too.

on the above screenshot the (necessary) slash at the end of command is missing:

tar -xvzf /tmp/*.tar.gz -C /
