I have also difficulties in English and I don't learn at all German  . Using Google or another tool is not very good, you can't understand all the text  . If you want, we can pursue on the French forum ;) .

I'm not sure I have understood all the explanations but when I tape a command (more /etc/resolv.conf) another user gave me (I don't know at all Linux), I could see %h was also used in 2.1 and it works.

The solution given by demosat1 and Martin_B is not perfect, but it's very interesting and we can wait for a "true" solution.

The surprise is that's good for users with Et9x00 and Windows but not for others  .

Thank you again, I'm very happy  . I have other little problems with network but I shall explain them later ;) .

Hi,

From my own experience, on my ET 6000 with Kernel 3.6 plus google chrome, no such problem with the Exporer(Windows XP Family SP3/ all défault firewall+MSE)...
I use almost every day that way to copy and paste video files from the box to PC...no issue...
I suppose the ET9*** Pli 3 image is very close to the ET6000 one's...just some driver for internal HDD....is not it???
So...i'd like to understand....

Continued:

Also tried with one PC under W7 64 and another one under W8 RTM 64...same result...every thing OK with tthe Explorer...
But the image is installed "out of the box" i.e. without mouting anything through the network...just connected my good old copper wire from time to time....that would be useless to mount anything as my CPL and WIFI won't work at home...My CPL is just for upgrading the image or download EPG...

I suspect the issue has something to with the HDD initialized or not by PLI 3..

I have note tested when migrating from PLI 2.1 to PLI 3 to use the HDD previously initialized by PLI 2.1..

I did everything from scratch with my ET 6000...

May be when attempting to use your HDD initialized by PLI 2.1, there is some action needed to make it 100% working under PLI 3 so that Windows Explorer can see it????

Or serious bug specific to ET9*** PLI 3 image????

I think the last (a bug)
had no problems whit this issue before, neither 2.1 or 3.0 with HDD
it's a recent problem in 3.0

it seems the issue in question strikes the ET9000...May be there are some little differences with the ET9200????

If ET9200 owners could report there are no issue under PLI 3, that could make things a litle bit clearer???

I have a ET9000 without issues....

But I have an idea what could be related. The smb.conf is stored in autobackup/autoinstall and there might be differences between the smb.conf in 2.1 and 3.0..... I suggest it is likely that when you run a smb.conf from 2.1 in 3.0 that you can get troubles....

I have a Xtrend ET9000, I've bought in February 2011.

The last try (I've done several), guirigui said me to do all the configuration. Then I've deleted the autobackup files and I've done again all the configuration. Is there another solution to avoid to use this smb.conf file?

The easiest way is to rename the backup directory on /hdd... (to e.g. backup.bak).

Ok but I've deleted all the files in backup directory, this directory was empty. I've also tried to delete this directory but I can't. Then I wonder whether it's possible to rename it.

As I can't see them with the standard tools, I deleted them with File Zilla. There were not in the trash can.

Accessing my ET6500 by is name in the network neighborhood give "Windows cannot access \\ET6500".

Accessing it using the IP address (\\192.168.x.y) works fine.

I use OpenPli 3.0 last update (november 9th), and Windows 7 Familiy (french version).

I tried to change the smb.conf (replacing %h par ET6500) but I get the same problem.

I do not have any problem with a DM800, a Vu+ Ultimo and a GigaBlue, only with Xtrend receivers (ET9200 and ET6500).

Hope this helps

DM5620, DM500S, DM600, DM7000, DM7020, DM7025, DM800, DM8000, ET9200, ET6500, ET7500, ET8500, VU+DUO, VU+ULTIMO, GB800SE, GB800HD all with OpenPLi

Only the DM5620 went off in 2012 ! DM500S, DM600, DM7000 & DM7020 have been sold in 2014.

The solution initially offered by Martin_B is good :

Edit your host file and C:\Windows\Sytem32\drivers\etc\host
Add ip and name ( exemple for me ) 192.168.1.40 ET9X00
Save file and now is OK

There is no "broadcast" adress within the network configuration. Is it normal?

Without Host or LMhost entries Windows will send a broadcast but Enigma2 doesen't answer a broadcast cause there is no configuration.

I think also "Samba" need a broadcast address.

Actual config on ET9000

Chapter 38 / Samba Tests:

And yet another possible cause for failure of this test is when the subnet mask and/or broadcast address settings are incorrect. Please check that the network interface IP address/broadcast address/subnet mask settings are correct and that Samba has correctly noted these in the log.nmbd file.

Missing broadcast address, now there's something I can fix. Should be fixed in tomorrow's build.

hi,
i think the broadcast 0.0.0.0 ist not the problem.
i have still the old kernel 3.4.3 and the broadcast is 0.0.0.0 per ifconfig....nevertheless it works.

as soon as i flash a new image with kernel 3.6 i get the problems

good luck!
regards
