No powered hub. And I'm pretty certain it is not a hardware problem because if I use USBtunerHelper it doesn't lose the USB tuner. But I don't want to use that unless I have to.and if you use a powered hub?
There should be no reason to loose a usb device, just because you restart e2.

This has been an issue since usb tuner handling was changed to not need usbtunerhelper. I think I've seen some posts which say that it is do to deficiencies in the VU+ drivers... However, I find that overall the new way of handling the usbtuners is much more stable... I don't have problems unless I do a GUI restart without a reboot. With this problem, the usbtuner is still listed (ie I see 2 usb tuners listed along with the internal DVB-S2 tuners) and the internal sat tuners continue to work well. The usb tuners, although listed as present, do not respond or function.
If usbtunerhelper can kick things back into action, perhaps it can be used in a script in some way to run with GUI restarts... or would this be likely to stuff up the new way of handling the usb tuners?
I see that Pieterg is doing some development changes at thte moment with NIM manger etc.... will this have anny bearing on our issue?
I have a Vu+Duo with Avermedia Twinstar (dual AF9035 DVB-T).
cheers

All I can say is with USBtunerHelper the tuner initiallises fine on an E2 restart, but when using a virgin install of OpenPLi if you do an E2 restart you will lose the USB tuner, even if it was working fine before the restart.i guess that with the usbtunerhelper you'd have the same problem when restarting the helper. e2 is not the cause of the problem.

Are you using USBtunerHelper with ver 3.0 of OpenPLi?
If so, how do you run it and are there any draw backs / problems?
cheers

of course, when you restart e2, you do not restart usbtunerhelper.
If, however, you were to restart usbtunerhelper as well, you'd have the same situation.
So the problem is not e2, nor the usbtunerhelper, it's an issue in the drivers, most likely. (because it works fine on other hardware)
