If we would include an installer, this forum would be flooded with help requests after installing such plugins as any "noob" could install them without knowing what they were doing.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

I wanted to install a movie streamer called m2k movie streamer. I had this on my blackhole image and had a lot of movies. I have installed 1channel which is ok, but it seems, for some reason, that very many movies have to be downloaded -can't be streamed. so that's why I would like to try the m2k on the open pli.

opkg install /path/to/some.ipk
tgz s are often enigma1 packages, so make sure it is in fact for e2 before installing. You may be better off extracting the file on your PC then manually FTPing the files into place according to it's structure. One could run something like:
tar xzf /path/to/some.tgz -C /
... on the DB, but again, as mentioned above, that isn't a very good idea, blindly installing before you know exactly what is inside the package... And all that said, as mentioned earlier in the thread, there's a pretty good posibility that packages from non-pli images may not work on pli...

How do I install plugins / addons with the .ipk or .tgz file endings? I have a VU UNO with open PLI 3.0.
Put the ipk file on a USB stick, in the root directory. Put the stick in the box. The box will ask you if you want to install the plugins when you do that, just follow the instructions.
