Hello!

I compare the file

/etc/tuxbox/satellites.xml
from the update I installed yesterday (2012-11-20) to a generated one (from http://satellites-xml.eu/).

There are huge differences for "my" satellites, even the names:

satellites-xml.eu names:

Thor 5/6/Intelsat 10-02 (0.8W)

Astra 4A/SES 5 (4.9E)
OpenPLi names:

0.8W Intelsat 10-02..Thor 5/6 Ku Band

4.8E SES 5..Astra 4A
The downloaded one got the information string:

Created By Pli Lyngsatgrabber Version 20120903
Any clue how the OpenPLi version is updated?

That is the version string of the script, not of the file generated. A line below that you'll find the build date and time of the file.
We generate the file on a weekly basis (on a saturday if memory serves me correctly).

The 4.8 / 4.9 debate is as long as santa clause's beard. It always was 4.8, somewhere it was decided to change that. It's only a number, and changing that number will invalidate all existing channel lists, forcing you do delete all the channels you have, and rebuilding the bouquets by hand. So it stayed at 4.8. There are more of these examples.

An other big difference is that some xml generators blindly dump everything they can find in the xml. Including all temporary frequencies and feeds. Which means scanning will take forever, and you won't find any channel more to watch. So our script filters all these.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

There are even sources that mention 5.0. It doesn't matter...

* Wavefrontier T90 with 28E/23E/19E/13E via SCR switches 2 x 2 x 6 user bands
I don't read PM -> if you have something to ask or to report, do it in the forum so others can benefit. I don't take freelance jobs.
Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.

Finally solved! The solution was to edit /usr/keys/mg_cfg

My second VU+ Duo: OpenPLi 2010-12-25
Works with:
# box type
# 00 autodetect, change only if you think wrong type detected.
B: { 00 }

My second VU+ Duo: OpenPLi Firmware version: 2012-11-28 22:55:33

Had to change this to
# box type
# 06 dreambox/mips
B: { 06 }

A tricky one! :-)

Hello!

I compare the file

 • /etc/tuxbox/satellites.xml
from the update I installed yesterday (2012-11-20) to a generated one (from http://satellites-xml.eu/).

By the way, it seems impossible to remove C-band when downloading from this site. Am I right?

Robinson, use my site. You can customise as much as you please, turn C-band on and off on individual satellites or as a whole, you don't have to include redundant "feeds" transponders in the list (that slow down scans), and it doesn't contain stale data. Also, European positions are hard coded so it doesn't break settings.

You can even just put in your location and it will create a horizon to horizon satellites.xml for that location.
