They are written to /hdd, and if you don't have a disk, to /tmp.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

I don't want to steal the thread but I would like to ask if it is possible what caused a restart if there was no "green screen". Does it mean there is no crashlog and no trace of what happened just before the restart?
I am asking becuase a few weeks ago I had an incident like that. As far as I can remember, it was during EPG import but what if the box restarted at any other point? Is ther any way to know what happened just before?

That is exactly why I asked the question. There can be a crash or a restart without a proper green screen and then no crashlog will be found.

That can either be caused by an OOM (out-of-memory) condition (see dmesg) or possible a driver/kernel error, issues outside of enigma.

after a reboot, /tmp will be empty again. So you have to get your crashlog before you reboot.

How do you get a crash log before the stb reboots ?

ie Green screen "Enigma encoutered an error and is rebooting" or something to that effect.

I, like many people don't have a good understanding of linux/Enigma and probably run MSwindows.

It's not necessary to have thorough knowledge of neither linux nor enigma, just follow some simple steps, and read-read-read...

Dear Eric, and with all respect.

If I was to do as you say, I would probably have forgot what I was looking for, before I found the answer.

best regards Colin

What I actually mean is, read lots of forum posts, even if their not applicable at the moment and also read older posts, that will make you an expert sooner or later ;)
