Hi everybody,

I'm also interested to use the BBC- script for the python 3 image.

Could someone help to translate the python script into a python 3 version?

I have attached the bbc_pmt_v6 version.

Thank you in advance:

Huevos: You don't need a script anymore. It is all built in to the image.

Hi everybody,

I tested the new approach in different images on a ZGEMMA in multiboot.

This function works fine in opelPLI and openHDF, but not in  openATV with the same settings.

I like to ask you which binary file includes the built-in function?

Can you provide this information?

Thank you in advance!

Could I please see the resulting lamedb?

Are you on the same OpenPLi?

Software System OE: PLi-OE Firmware version: OpenPLi 8.3-release (2023-04-12-release-8.3) Kernel / Drivers: 4.4.35 / 20201118

I wrote that I'm using diferent images on the ZGEMMA box.

I would like to know how what's the reason for that.

Can someone give me an advice  to the algorithm?

Can I exchance  only a  special binary file?

Thank  you in advance

That lamedb gave me sound on the HD channels.Thanks.

For the radio make sure you have the  oscam.dvbapi and softcamkey entries. I have seen them but lost them in my attempts to get things correct.

Thank you very much!

The INTELSAT channels are now o.k. in multiboot on ZGEMMA at openPLi, openHDF and openATV.

I don't know who needs the TBN UK, but here a correction at the lamedb from Huevos:

If the F parameter is used in lamedb, the bbc_pmt script becomes unusable, as the F parameter disables PMT reading

Hi EnoSat,

I would like to remind you that we speek about the  2 different things:

1. Using the BBC- Python- script in Python2- images

2. BBC-/ INTELSAT channels without the script in the current  Python3- images.(but also in openPLI 8.3)

Have you guys noted any decrease in the signal level? I've seen a reduction from 60% of SNR to 42% in northern Spain.

I definitely confirm a reduction in the signal level in northern Spain after double checking with couple of friends in the zone. I guess this should have been noted in other regions in the limits of the footprint.

yeah, likewise over here in Germany. 10% down from my usual 71% to 61% all of a sudden.

Well, it’s a ‘satellites oldus’ so I am not really surprised…. I used to watch this satellite in the mid nineties when Canal+ was transmitted FTA…

I’m amazed by the situation: a satback service is not the type of stream that you would trust to and old satellite right? Regardless of the good signal levels in UK. I wonder what’s in the minds of Operations department people at the BBC: are they really thinking in moving the satback to another satellite? Or they just stick to Intelsat due to a ridiculous low price of broadcasting due to the conditions of the satellite? Still, this is the broadcast that feeds the terrestial network of repeaters, I can’t understand how they argue to keep the Intelsat part of the equation…

I can also confirm that signal level has dropped drasticly over here in Sweden (i live in Stockholm area)

in my case (65cm parabol) from 9dB to 5dB

According to Satbeams, Stockholm should be ok with 55cm. Thouse 5dB are ok to mantain image? I'm in the same zone, actually closer to the higher level, and I can't receive either with 65cm parabol nor Selfsat D50.

In La Palma Canary Islands, 1.2m antenna, Lnb Inverto Ultra Black, Dreambox DM800se, signal strength usually is between 8.4~9.0dB. Yesterday was 7.5db.
As Lyngsat data says, C/N lock is 6,4dB, and this value match when image blackout, so, 5dB SN is not enough for to decode this transponder.

i usually get 9-11,5 dB on 65cm. (and almost same values with my Selfsat H50D4)
And that's why 4-5 dB is a huge drop in signal strength for me.
Because 6 dB is enough to get an image (breaking) and over 7 is good.

Satbeams and those coverage maps can give you an estimation and are for the "best case scenario".  In reality there are no sharp edges as you already know, it degrades gradually.. In my case, elevation is my enemy here in the north. The signal fluctuates because of the atmosphere mass. Yes, something has changed lately, and it is not in a good way. It looks like I need a 90 cm parabol just for Intelsat and SatBack.

Thank you Huevos for the information!

Yes, the BBC- script works.

But for me is it not clear why the lamedb has differences to the Python 2 version.

I am getting 63% SNR: and 71% AGC: here in southern Spain....so not too bad as i set it up by hand no meter..

is the Lamedb from  Huevos up to date. as i need a new one??

But what dish do you have? I mean, that’s the main point of the whole thing…
