Thanks for you answer.
I think it should at least warn, when "ask user" is selected in the PTS setting.

cheers

Really? It never did any automatic saving for me under any settings. It only saves timeshift+rest of the event if you choose to save the timeshift via record button menu (and if you have respective option in settings).

This is odd. I have a few questions then:
What are the timeshift settings for the zap action for then?
What happens when cursor left right is pressed?
What happens when zapping isn't the intended action and I wanted to save the timeshiftbuffer later?

In my case what happens most is that I forget that I am a few minutes behind and accidentally zap.
Even if the buffer is saved, I will loose at least those minutes I am behind and the actual position.
It would be much better, if a Warning is issued instead of zapping instantly.
Thanks

I'm talking about:

As I can read in this thread, there are some troubles with timeshift in OpenPLI. It is correct that when I push "pause", the program I'm watching pauses and when I press "play" the program jumps back to live tv. So the function doesn't work that way.

Now I did some testing and when I press "pause" the program pauses. When I press "pause" again, the program just starts running from where I paused it. So with that button combination, timeshift works ok. Forwarding and rewinding all goes normal, but once you hit "play" it goes back to live tv.
Can anyone confirm or test this also?

I'm using a VU+ Solo2 with the build of 30/01/2013 and running fine ever since. HD is 1TB and integrated.

Hi Avalon,

first of all, you should update to the current version (online)
After that, both combinations should do the same. (pause, pause and pause, play)
At least when using the PTS plugin. I can't say if its the same without PTS.

Well, sorry, but I think you are missing my point.

What I miss, is the warning when zapping away from the middle of the timeshift buffer.

Thanks

What I miss, is the warning when zapping away from the middle of the timeshift buffer.

This warning is made for standard timeshift.
In the plugin PTS it is not necessary, there is a similar function.
You want to turn a simple channel switching to direct answer to the question-"Stop timeshift?" ?

First of all, it should be really handy to know what has changed between releases of OpenPLI, but that's off topic.
The reason I haven't updated yet is that I do not feel the need to and everything is working fine.

Second: I do not use the PTS plugin. I was just talking about the OpenPLI timeshift function.

Hi avalon007,

if like to "play" with your STB and if you are able to make/install backups then try to update (at best make a backup before!).
Otherwise and if everything works fine for you, I suggest not to update.

You can see little documentation here: http://openpli.git.s...igma2;a=summary (click on the commit to see a longer description).
For more you need to read the sources, sorry.

Here is a little summary of the made changes in the last weeks:[list]
[*]Rewind with more than 2x speed is now possible
[*]At live point you can now zap with number keys
[*]There's a warning if you want to zap to another channel while watching timeshift (the warning can be disabled)
[*]Timeshift is possible in radio modus
[*]and some other bugs...

Yes, what I would like ist that I get a warning when playing behind in time and a channel switch would kill the buffer.
What else is the "ask user" option in the timeshift settings for?

I have modified the InfoBarGenerics.py so that the timeshift files can be stored without plugin(see attached source; rename it to .py).
It works as follows:
After start of timeshift you can see 2 new entries in the instant recordings menu. "Save timeshift file" and "Save timeshift file in movie directory". The first renames only the file (it stays in timeshift directory). The second also moves the timeshift file to the default movie directory. Warning: If timeshift and movie directory are not on the same device it can cause high IO load (moving across devices is done in background).
The timeshift files are not renamed/moved immediately after selecting the entry in the instant recording menu. It's done when timeshift was stopped by user(e.g. zap or stop) or due to shutdown.
You'll have to select the entries in the menu every time you want to store the timeshift files. There's no switch to store timeshift files every time.
Timeshift file won't be splitted like in permanent timeshift plugin.
I did no tests with permanent timeshift plugin, but normally there should be no problems using it.

It would be great if someone can test it. If there are problems please inform me.

P.S. You need a relative new image. It should not be older than 3 days (better the latest).

Sorry, I don't understand?!?
What is that good for? When I press record before zapping, I don't need a warning or anything.

But what is needed, that if a zap is started (accidentally), you get a warning, that the timeshift buffer will be lost.

betacententairi,

Thanks for posting here...

What dima means is that PTS can save a timeshift as an recording when an event ends. On optioen does stop the timeshift after the current event and the other continues a next recording (with a configurable maximum of event items)...

I still do not understand how it does cover overlay as EPG times are not equal. I suggest his must be extreme tricky or this is not done at all... But if it is done it must start dual recordings or something like that.

Probably it might be more usefull to "cut" a timeshift recording afterwards as one recording. When you save it correctly the "cut" points can be included as the timeshift file is saved... (it would be nice if we have a ts file cutter that can cut it afterwards with prefixed markers at the "event" points in a quick way).
