Hi all,

yesterday I reflashed my ET9000, after restoring backups I tried to update my bouquet's with iDreamX. When uploading to the box I got the error "login failed", so I tried to connect with filezilla. When I connect to the box I get the following Error in the connection log:

500 OOPS: cannot locate user entry:vsftpd

I hope you can help, I'm still missing some new Sky channel's... ;-)

I've only seen reports of that in combination with multiboot. Are you using multiboot?

Do you know where I have to add that missing entry?

Maybe you restored an /etc/passwd file from a previous release. Don't do that. Just reflashing the box and leaving passwd intact should then fix the problem.

Yes I restored a backup, and the entry in passwd is missing... And I just checked the backupscript, it save'd and restored /etc/passwd!

Could you please copy your line for me?

Thx in advance

Found this posting: http://www.dreambox-...e88eaedca2945f7

And used this hint: echo 'vsftpd:x:998:997::/usr/share/vsftpd/chroot:/bin/false' >> /etc/passwd

I'm not not shure if uid&gid are correct, but it now works!!!

Thx a Ton

Never backup /etc/passwd. Bad idea. Don't do it, as you have noticed, it WILL break things.

You can safely use AutoBackup, which will correctly preserve your root password.

Thx for the hint... But for me staying with my passwd is worth the risk! It's the first prob I had in 3 years since I'm using enigma....
