At last, real full HD without distortions
Hmm just had two black bars, on top and the bottom.
But somehow it's gone now :S

This discussion proves that some tv screens have indeed problems with overscan and it's not always possible to solve these problems in the tv settings menu.
All skins should respect the EBU safety areas, that will make your skin the best skin available for OpenPLi.
No, they shouldn't.
Overscan is something from the analogue signal era, and that is long behind us. Current TV's, like any computer monitor, get a digital image and should always be full-screen.
This regulation is mainly there to protect the broadcasters (which can now get away with crap encoding) and TV manufacturers (that don't have to be bothered producing a decent product).

And don't forget that when every screen pixel shows around 0.95 video pixel, you are not looking at a HD-picture at all.....
See http://www.engadget....-all-tvs-do-it/ for some background information.

That's not quite true, most satellite decoders still have analogue SCART outputs. All OpenPLi images still have analogue PAL 576i settings. Backwards compatibility is never a bad thing.

SCART == analogue (and although some decoders still have that interface, it's still very 80's... ).
It is indeed not a problem to be backwards compatible, but that shouldn't stop progress, and eventually you have to ditch old technology otherwise you grind to a halt.

And if you do want such a legacy output, that is very well possible indeed. But then you won't be using an HD skin either, as they are hardly readable on a CRT (if at all). So you use e.g. Magic SD: problem solved.
But even if you insist on using an HD-skin on an SD-output, you can; simply use the OSD-settings to adjust the size of the OSD to your legacy setup.
So there is indeed no reason to stop progress, none whatsoever
You see: 100% backwards compatible without hampering progress.

I have been trying several hours to get Metrixhd second info bar with weather info and has no luck. I tried latest version metrixhd on open-store.net and after many combinations they all resulted green screen with crash! I can only get your mod looking screen but no weather and clock widgets when pressesed OK twice to show them on secondinfo bar.
Is there any option to configure your metrix yakunmod skin? I use openpli 4 on xtrend et9000.

This is a MOD, and not the original.
One of the changes in this mod is that all rubish has been removed, such as this store thing, and all python scripts that overwrote system code.
So you're posting in the wrong thread.

The skins are installed in /usr/share/enigma2.
If you have installed this skin, you should have a folder there called MetrixHD_MOD. Copy it to a folder with a different name, then copy the skin.xml into this folder. This makes sure that when you run an update, your skin.xml isn't overwritten.
Once done you should be able to switch Enigma your new skin via the menu, you should see your chosen foldername there.

I did it exactly you expained.. I copied Pli Full HD Night folder to my computer and than changed skin.xml with yours and added to usr/share/enigma2 folder and than selected it from the skin menü.. But, my receiver did not opened... I deleted it from the folder whilde the receiver trying to open and returned to the default skin.. But, there is nothing showing by default menü when i am pushing the buttuns..
So, i need to reload the image again.. unfortunately...
I understand now, i copied it in to awronge skin, not to Matrix one

Hi, I am a new user of this skin. It's really nice. Thanks for making it!
I've noticed some things though that I believe they should be fixed (bugs?). Here is a screen of simple infobar and second infobar for comparison.
metrixhdmod.png 1.1MB 37 downloads
The version I have installed is 3.1a from the openpli feed. I suppose its the latest?
In addition, I would like to ask for a guide on how to edit the skin to my own needs. From What I understand I can make changes to the skin.xml file, but that file is huge! It's a nightmare to know what exactly it needs to be edited for each modification I want to make.

Everthing is possible.
But since I don't care what the provider is (I know what I watch), I'm not going to add it to my skin. And this is not my skin, nor am I a skin builder, I can change a colour and that's about it...
