Hi,

I'm completely new at OpenPLi, actually completely new at all OE-based images. I have few questions, as OpenPLi when freshly installed, is almost "empty" from the plugins point of view. I would like to ask some questions, as wiki looks too old to me, isn't it?
1. Is there tool available to manage pendrive? I would like to have all the picons there and EPG data. If not, there is plugin "flash extnender", but after installation and trial of configuration, box restarted with a "green screen" - enigma crashed. Should I do something special to install it?
2. I mainly need about 5 plugins/extensions to be working: CrossEPG, AirPlayer, Name on zap and Bitrate viewer. The rest is not that important, but if I would be able to change skin from time to time, that would be nice.

I would be highly appreciated for your help.

Cheers,
gulipin

Welcome to the PLi support board.
1. I have no answer for that.
2. For plugins you can go to menu - application or plugins and then the green button for downloading all available plugins.

Enjoy PLi.

If I had all the knowledge I had no questions at all.

What kind of box do you have?

When you install picons you can choose on wich drive it will be installed.
And the epg data can be saved on an usb pen ,but you have to add a line in /etc/enigma2/settings

with telnet and ftp you can add the line below to the settings file in /etc/enigma2.

init 4

config.misc.epgcache_filename=/media/usb/epg.dat

init 3

change usb in the label you use.

1. Pendrive === USB stick. ;)

Stick it in, format it from the menu (if it doesn't already have a linux file system, which is required for picons), use it. When you download picons you will get the option to store them on the pendrive.

Flash extender is (afaik) only for the DM7025, which does suffer from lack of flash. The plugins you name (watch out with CrossEPG, you might get compatibility issues, for EPG import use Rytec's XMLTV toolkit instead) should not give a space problem.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Thanks for your replies.
Just to make some things clear.
I have DM800HD se (original, not a clone). The stick is in, I have my own picons, but OK - I can fristly install from OpenPLi feed and then overwrite mine if it's needed.
I got used to CrossEPG. AFAIR it uses Rytec's XMLTV too. Where can I find the Rytec tool @WanWizard mentioned?
I have successfully installed Flash extender on box before on other images. If I don't do it, I don't think I will be able to install more than 1 skin and maybe 1-2 plugins. The image on OE2.0 as itself is much bigger than it used to be earlier. The difference is about 11 MB afair...

OE2.0 is a DMM term.

Unlike most other images out there, OpenPLi doesn't use anything from DMM (apart from the box drivers), we have our own OE environment, and our own Enigma. So you can't compare the two, nor assume that everything that works on a stock image works on OpenPLi.

If you have your own picons, don't install something from the feeds. If you do, and an update is generated, your picons will be automatically overwritten as the box thinks they are still under version control.

The rytec XMLTV system has two plugins, one called xmltvimport, the other xmltvimport-rytec. You need both.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

OK, thanks. I will give it a try. Adn what about swapfile? Usually, when I was using images on enigma before DMM closed their sources, it was working more stable. Is it so important right now? I can't find anything regarding swapfile... :/

There is no interface available to create one, because there is no need for it. As far as I know only the DM8000 currently may require a swapfile, under certain conditions, and when running OpenPLi 3.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I would rather say, that DM800se will need swapfile, as it has less Flash RAM comparing to DM8000. Of course, the size of the image also differs.
Anyway, I think I will give it a try.
May I post crashlogs here if they appear? :)

The swap file is not needed for flash.... but for RAM... flash RAM is a strange combination...

You are right. It was already too late for me. :)
So, if 256 MB RAM is enough, then I will leave it. But 64 MB Flash it's not too much, and Flash Extender would do the job. OK, I will try to install necessary plugins, and let's hope there is enough space for them.

By the way - is there any "Edit" button to change own posts?

The time to edit your own post is limited to 15 minutes I believe.
In urgent situations you can ask a moderator to change it for you.

... But 64 MB Flash it's not too much...

I'd strongly suggest refraining from crossing that bridge until you actually find it. You'll be surprised how many plugins will fit in that space. Using a flash extender will only slow things down. Free flash space does not contribute to performance (if it did, the dm8000 would be unparallelled).

I installed xmltvimport-rytec from plugin menu, restarted enigma, but can't see it anywhere. How to use that tool?

Aahh.. Thanks! I installed the other one too, and now I can see the new plugin. Downloaded all the data, and it seems to work nice.
Where the data is saved, as I can't see any path to set up? I wish I could save it on USB stick or HDD.
