I saw some channels has HbbTV icon appeared on the info bar. Do we need some special plug in to use the HbbTV functions?

you will need the "webbrowser" for your brand of box, if there is, not every box can do that, depends on Manufacturer/hardware

not for 800HD, only for 800SE HD, 500HD, 7020HD and 8000HD, and only in the closed source DMM image, and some Teams based on that closed source image.

HBBTV is supported by Pli in Xtrends and later on also VU

I have 1 xtrend et5000 and 1 et4000. The latest should support hbbtv. I will install the plugin today and see. I thought HbbTV was only realted to WebMedia plugin.

But the HbbTV on X-Trend is not yet fully compatible with some URL...
It does not like at all html url..but ok with ARTE Url for instance...
It is possible to see the URL syntax in full with menu>>chanel info...

First one is HBBTV...after installation, just push twice the remote red key to make it start...
With menu key, some actions are available such as exit the plugin...

Opendreambox OE2.0 supports DM 800 HD PVR & DM 800 SE
Unfortunetely Dream Multimedia decided to put webbrowser and hbbtv (and blindscan, and more) in their closed source part. So it's only supported by images who build on top of the closed source of dream multimedia (OE2.0 based). So at the moment not possible with openpli.
If you're really in need of those extra functions, then you can flash your dreambox with OpenDreambox2.0 and added Geminiplugin3.2 (send me a personal message if you need to know how to do it, because i don't want to post it here, feels like unpolite)

Dreambox Dm8000 with all hardware addons donated to OpenPli. No interests anymore in policy of CanalDigitaal / M7 group and now-a-days channel encryption (like CI+ / HD+).

Good luck Enigma2 / OpenPli, it was fun with Sky Movies and so on, collected a nice collection of movies. Now back to basic boring lineair TV with KPN iTV (VDSL2 pair bonding 219 / 63 Mbps).

The VDSL pair bonding is excellent for... torrents to NAS in higher quality then HDTV (Like Dolby-TrueHD or DTS-Master-Audio soundquality ) :D

I installed enigma2-plugin-extensions-et-webbrowser_1.6.0-r0_et6x00.ipk on my ET6000 running OpenPLi 3 from nov 15th. If I go to Arte HD on Astra, pressing the red button on my remote brings up the HBB service, which works fine.

However, I don't have any info prior to that, that there's HBB on this channel. I know from this topic only. The box doesn't show any info, that there's HBB on the channel. Why?

Indeed! I was expecting some extra icon to popup by itself. But it's in the infobar among the others, true. Sorry.

I was using Youtube with the webbrowser.

When I try to search on the search-box how can I enter letters instead of numbers? When I press a key it only enters the number
