some suggestions for PLi team

github :
is it possible for you to start using github instead of sourceforge ?
sourceforge is not good for other developers and it's too slow
github is so fast and we can contribute to your projects so easily
even you can control your repos with your tablet/mobile if you use github
we want and we can contribute to your projects but not with sourceforge
with github we can edit online and send merge request in seconds
i'm ready for contribution to OE Core , aio-grab , enigma2 , plugins , ...
Recognized Developers :
we have Third-Party Development but i think it's a good idea to have a section (or sub forum) for Recognized Developers
it means only PLi and a certain group can post there but the others can read their posts (or can't , it's up to you)
we can discuss dev matters there deeply and make friends or talk to each other in a better way
this section is so crowded and sometimes we should read so many threads to get what we need or what we can participate
for example http://openpli.org/f...22599-cimarast/ is a developer but we can see his status as a member
with Recognized Developer group and status we can know each other better even if we have 1 post or 1000 posts
and for others it will be some kind of encouragement to start develop something and become a developer
why not supporting OE 1.6 :
you're still supporting old models (enigma1 for example) in 2013 but you did shutdown the OE 1.6 for all models except dm7025 and dm800
we're using OE Core too but some people still love old OE i think it's better to stop supporting enigma1 models and run old OE again
again if you start using github i'm ready to update old OE just like other repos , why should we ignore it when we can support it
we can't have old OE for some models but we can have it for example all vuplus models , dreambox models
for example we have a new dm7020hd driver for old OE : http://git.opendream...deda61801e304f8
or secondstage 87 for old OE : http://git.opendream...39743a6a7375de5
dm7020hdv2 support for old OE : http://git.opendream...674a5f4d6ba23b0
but we have none openpli 2.1 image with above changes for dm7020hd but we can have (i have my own)
regards,
Persian Prince

i mean your openembedded 2.1 , sorry correct my post
Just for info, The current openpli is now 3.0. It is stable and does run the latest linux kernel for the boxes.
Perhaps You should consider migrating to 3.0 as almost all plugins are updated to 3.0. The 2.1 still runs with pretty old kernels for some boxes like 2.6.18 for dm8000.
A lot off library's do not support these low linux kernels anymore and for that reason it's even difficult to find the sources.

At least the media player worked on it more functional and stable play back files of any format.
So far in Openpli3.0 many faults ...
What's wrong to create a git for version 2.1?
I think this version will be a success among users.

We even are preparing openpli4 now.. It is due to dmm doesn't support new kernel drivers that they are still on openpli2.1
Staying with 2.6.18 is only for one reason ... clones.
PLi doesn't support any clone STB and believe me we don't need anybody for supporting clones because we can support them but for some reasons we don't wanna do that anymore

I think Persian Prince rights, in an effort to maintain Openpli2.1

that's the point
old OE or Open PLi 2.1 is great for so many users
there is no need to create a new one , we just need to update the old one
as i said we can help to update all recipes because we have old OE and OE Core too

I am agree. And as I saw, somebody users making on Open-Pli work dirty bussiness...

they can build Open PLi 2.1 images themselves and we should not ignore something because of some dirty patchers
we did release images for sunray and ferrari clones in the past but do you know why ? because we didn't want to see our images being patched not to support clones

This only reinforces the point that supporting the development Openpli 2,1 users need and dirty business with the sale of the Clones, has nothing to do with this ...
Staying with 2.6.18 is only for one reason ... clones.
Also the clone-bussiness is changing: The new clones (dm800se) has original sim on board so they can be flashed with latest images.....

Openpli 2.1 is based on kernel 2.6.18 and openembedded. As you maybe know the openembedded development is stopped now some years and kernel is now 3.7.*
So it's logic this development is so good as stopped. Even the boxes on kernel 2.6.18 are not sold anymore for over many years.

if you mean a8p sim
it's a war between Sky and DMM and sky won it and it seems Broadcom won't sell any new CPU to DMM (NDS integration in new chips)
Chris Tornovsky (http://en.wikipedia....opher_Tarnovsky) did this for Sky and yes there are 100% genuine sim cards in china that produced for killing DMM
but Vu+ will do the job so don't worry about it

but you can build kernels up to 3.5.5 (i did test it myself , but maybe 3.6 and ...) and also you see (for example) Open PLi 2.1 with kernel 3.1.1 for vuplus
the last openembedded update was 13 December 2012 : https://github.com/o.../commits/master so what you said is not true
anyway guys it's a suggestion ! and one of my suggestions !

Of course you are always free to clone openpli 2.1 on github and support it yourself and others that might be interested. OpenPLI team are not going to do this, it is their decision to move ahead even if there are some problems in the process.

Your suggestions is to go 5 year back in time and give support to boxes which are sold over many years not anymore. (Except the clones)
I didn't say that openpli 2.1 is not possible with newer kernels. openpli2.1 I see it more optimize for boxes which use 2.6.18 and openpli 3.0 for kernel 3.x

we did release images for sunray and ferrari clones in the past but do you know why ? because we didn't want to see our images being patched not to support clones
I know why because of your lack of donations like you said on dreamoem:
we're talking to some companies so we can get donations and bring RC3 for you RC3 won't be released for : gigablue unibox (venton) ferrari clones iclass m7 ebox 5000 because of no donation , it means there will be no PE image for them RC3 + Persian Grandeur Android 4 App will be the last version for : technomate xpert xp1000 because of no donation , we just wanna show what we can RC3 + Persian Grandeur Android 4 App will be released (public) for : sunray clones because of perfect cooperation RC3 + Persian Grandeur Android 4 App will be released (private) for : AZBox VuPlus Xtrend DreamBox only for our Persian donors , there will be no public release (no donation) very bad news RC3 won't be released till further notice (maybe never) in previous week we lost our Compiler because of unknown reasons (maybe electric shock or something else) it's gonna cost more than 5000$ for us to buy another one and sorry we can't afford that kind of money in our country (Iran) because of bad economical circumstances our android 4 app (Persian Grandeur aka DreamDroid stolen copy) is ready for release but it's not gonna work with previous versions like RC2 so you can't use it as we don't have any sponsor you can consider this project as closed for now we're looking for sponsors (any kind) and donations but not 10$ donations from users signed Persian Prince contact us email=persianpros@yahoo.com skype : persianpros
But it was okay to steal plugin sources from various community servers and leak them - http://persianpros.blogspot.nl/ ( he did stop because only 1 horsehead and half a chicken where thankfull )
So far about the little palace boy who did try and fail, now gimme a nice rant
