If you have still problems with subtitles, you could try my plugin MediaPlayer2. Its classic mediaplayer, just added subtitles handling in python way. There is also automatic conversion to utf-8, support for italic/bold, automatic load of subtitles, choosing external subtitles, change subtile settings and so on...
It should work on all platforms.

you must download enigma2-plugin-mediaplayer2ab_0.35_all.ipk and copy it to tmp folder in your box with winscp program, and then install it over the reciever, then restart enigma and that's it.
Honestly, Im not that familiar with this yet, but do I understand it correctly taht your way of copying is via FTP?
Is there a way how to do it simply via USB stick? could you please possibly give me some detaile step by step description?
Im affriad I cannot handle making FTP yet.
thank you.

Hi
howto add devices in menu ??
only (internal for me) harddisk, (and only 1/3) usb and flash there
I use an external usb for my movies/srt
so I be happy if I told how to add that in menu
TIA
Well it works great with symlinks,
but a lot of browsing to my folders with movies.
else love it
