I love DM800 very much and watch TV by cable every day. In China GBK coding instead of unicode coding is applied for Chinese charts by cable venders, thus there is problem in correctly showing the Chinese EPG. Considering the huge population in China and its increasing impact on the world, could you please considering adding the GBK and BIG5 Chinese EPG supporting in your Openpli IMGs, thank you for your generous supporting.
I found a DM800 fan had done some work on this topic, but it cannot supporting Chinese GBK coding.

Further reference files can be provided if needed, for example epg.dat.

Why aren't they using UTF8 actually?

* Wavefrontier T90 with 28E/23E/19E/13E via SCR switches 2 x 2 x 6 user bands

Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.

To save bandwidth.
utf-8 is very efficient when you mostly have 7bit ascii, with an occasional multi-byte sequence.
For data which does not contain any 7bit ascii at all, the overhead is quite large.

The cable venders do not follow the standardization. Since I use DM800C, they use GBK chart for channel name and EPG. Some satellite venders also used non-uniformed chart for the EPG. So some modifications are needed in the IMG.

These files just make the menus of OPenPli be Chinese characters, not for Chinese EPG. Here somebody discussed discussed Chinese EPG showing.
