And yes my internet works as it should and can update openpli plugins etc.

Tried download the links with wget and that works on the box so really strange.

As you concluded yourself, there is something wrong with the image or python dependencies.

From the log, I can see your have the correct sources files.  It just does not want to download the files.

I would say reinstall your image (a fresh flash is recommended).

 

As I do not know which image you are using, it is possible you do not have the correct python version.  So install XMLTVimport from the feed of your image provider.  (Although there is a hint you are using OpenPLi)

As this will give the most chances of having the correct python files.

Maybe you installed another plug-in which has destroyed your python files.

You could also try in a telnet session:

opkg update install python-html
opkg install python-shell
opkg install python-zlib
opkg install python-compression
