DM800SE flashed with OpenPLi-3.0-beta-dm800se-20130326

I have an external HDD connected to USB port and mounted as /media/hdd

in "Harddisk setup" menù I set up "1 minute" the stand-by time and then restarted the decoder

But I noticed the hard disk never goes in stand-by mode.

Any help?

Thank You.

As far as I can see in http://sourceforge.n...nts/Harddisk.py
stand by isn't supported for removable (=external ?) drives. I don't know why.

My USB HDD sleeps correctly on the 800SE, on one of the latest OpenPLi. I used TSPanel for setting up the disk, but shouldn't differ.

One minute is far too short anyway, you'll ruin your harddisk.

But anyway, on most USB harddisks you cannot configure the spindowntime anyway, that's normal.

Yes, this. I wonder if my USB harddisk takes note of the 800SE setting, probably not.

I have an old PATA HDD 250 Gb and I bought a case PATA TO USB

wa-3-44-5ata-box-3-5-ide-pata-to-usb-2-0

With OE 1.6 images the HDD goes stand-by after the time I set up without problem, I use HDD only sometimes to play movies, NO PICON, NO EPG

I tested different OE 2.0 images and the HDD DOES NOT go stand-by after the time I set up

Is not permanent timeshift used ?

I am using my hddsleep plugin for 800SE, because my hdd on usb did not sleeps well. On XP1000 i am using e2 builded sleeping and there it works well.  Try use plugin (then disable sleeping in e2).

No, I do not use timeshift

The plugin You use is this? Could be used on OE 2.0?

yes, it is this plugin. You can there try immediately sleep with button too and you can then hear, if some interrupts sleep.

HDD does NOT goes in STAND-BY even if I installed the plugin [enigma2-plugin-extensions-hddsleep_1.70_mipsel.ipk.tar.gz]

E2 has been restarted

The USB HDD is mounted as /media/hdd (I used the plugin "Device manager)

The "strange" thing it happens, when I open the plugin, "Mounted Device" is blank

I have "HDD" beside the line "Sleep time for /dev/sdb"

example image from plugin page

I would thank You for the help, but now I reverted to OpenPli OE 1.6

OpenPli OE 2.0 was a "test", I think I will repeat the "test" with OE 2.0 next week end.

I will write here again the result of the telnet command "mount"

Thank You

Update

DM800SE flashed with OpenPLi-3.0-beta-dm800se-20130403

External HDD connected to USB port and mounted as /media/hdd with Device Manager plugin

In Device Manager, INFO menu, I set up "Never stand-by" the stand-by time and then restarted the decoder

Installed the plugin [enigma2-plugin-extensions-hddsleep_1.70_mipsel.ipk.tar.gz]

The HDD, finally, is listed in "Mounted devices" /dev/sdb1 on /media/hdd

but still DOES NOT GO in stand-by after the time I set up

When I open HDD sleep plugin, If I select the HDD and I press blue button [sleep sdb] NOTHING happens

This is part of fstab file

UUID=6c1edd9c-9faf-4762-8ef3-c69b1510362c	/media/hdd	auto

this is part of the telnet command "mount"

/dev/sdb1 on /media/hdd type ext4 (rw,relatime,barrier=1,data=ordered)

try enable Create log there in plugin and then see after some time into /tmp/hddsleep.log, what there is wroted. ( Into log is wroted, when disk waking-up )

Or you can try from telnet use hdd-idle manualy http://hotzi.no-ip.o...2html?hd-idle 1

When is plugin installed, hdd-idle is in /usr/bin

this is the log, it logs something only when I browse folder in HDD via FTP

date: 2013-04-04, time: 14:32:48, disk: sdb, running: 60, stopped: 30
date: 2013-04-04, time: 14:39:08, disk: sdb, running: 67, stopped: 313

I tried both

1)hd-idle -a sdb -i 30     ---->nothing happens
2)hd-idle -t sdb1       ---->nothing happens
