On the PDF attached on the Setup screen it is mentioning:

"Transcoding can be started when there is no corresponding channel recordings.

When transcoding, both PIP and analog video ouputs are disabled."

Is it effectively taking control on the audio-video threads ?

A thread is a software pump so to speak - copying buffers from source to destination.

If at this level the HW is not capable of managing all the internal buffers...then that is not very nice - maybe it is a limitation in HW.

And off course there is a lot of quirks you need to figure out so that no racing conditions are developed in the driver area.

I don't know if this is  an hw limitation or a limitation in managment of streming in Vu+ code.

What are the benefits of using transcoding features ?

Is this transcoding on the fly ? Do you have information about its format ?

pop_eye i am not a Vu+ "inside man" and i have not extra informations.

I simply look like all others at their gits and play with their code.

The transcoding function is useful to stream trough internet but i have never used it to be sincere.

And again i am not the author of the review.

bacicciosat, I am sorry - I did not want to offend you.

I have a feeling this will remain a feature on a piece of datasheet with no description whatsoever.

As many others. Thanks again for your answer

Don't worry pop_eye,

i agree with you that Vu+ should invest more in software and drivers develop because the new chipsets in their box could allow much more than this.

I wonder if its that hard to deliver good drivers that match the potential of the hardware.
If I was the responsible dev of it I would do my very best to surprise the many opensource devs out there.

But perhaps it are just some minor example drivers from the chipset manufacturer?

What great things could happen if those were opensource too!

@pop_eye,

@WanWizard

If you do not accept me as I am I have nothing to say in public for the sake of others and I will probably

apologize and leave this board immediately since it is not reflecting my interests or aspirations.

Since you feel the need to reply publicly to what I asked you as moderator of this board, I will reply to you publicly as well.

Asking you to mind your language has imho nothing to do with your intrests and aspirations. Unless they are related, in which case you're on the wrong board too...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

That info applies to the Solo2, not to the DUO2.
